I agree with Callas i would audition both AVR to stop your choice but why limit yourself to only those 2 AVR? The 809 should be able to handle the speakers quite easily as it is a strong powerful receiver, the Cambridge, altho only 60wpc with 7 channels driven and even during impedance dip so it's the reason why you have to audition. It's actually 90wpc in stereo plus it has a slim design that some people like. As for the Sub, to keep up with your system I would have gone for the 10 inch rather than regret it later or you could look for online companies like HSU who will provide you much better bang for the buck.

I'm looking for some input
I just purchased a pair of 60's v5 - CC-690 v5 and I am currently powering them with UMC-1/XPA-5 combo , my question is I can get a deal on a MRX-500 but if I did that I would have to sell the UMC-1/XPA-5 combo. Do you think the MRX-500 would have enough juice to power my setup ?

because i need all the Features in 809 ,but in the same way in need a good quality of sound , for that if 551R has a big difference quality ,i will Sacrifice with all Features in 809 for get more good sound. you have any other good optional ? i think if onkyo make AV receiver same Features to 551R it will be half price on cambridgeaudio , for that it must be a big difference between them ! |

Arcam had 4 of their AVRs reviewd and always got a 5 stars rating in terms of performance but the smaller companies often have issues with HDMI. It's entirely up to you what you prefer. If I were you I would be looking at the Cousin of the Onkyo 809, the Integra 50.3, maybe a little more robust but it has yet to be proven but anyhow Integra offers a better warranty 3 years vs 2.

I just feel the Anthems shine when you are driving no more than 5 channels on them.

hi,
1- what is the best AWG for wire for for monitor 9 S7 , surround 1 and center 1 ( max length from AV receiver to Speaker will be 35 ft) ? and does i need to be all speakers same AWG ?and there is a good / recommended brand for wire. 2- if i want to make the system 7 channel are the atom speaker best optional for that ( note: room volume = 2750 cu ft) ? and if yes , are the surround 1 will be back side or side ? 3-does i feel any difference if i use a bi-speaker for monitor 9 ? |

I would put the surround 1s on the side, for the surround backs you could use either the atoms or another pair of surround 1s. go with whatever works best for you bi-wire/(passive) bi-amping has no real added value, so I wouldnt worry about it.

-i prefer atom , to make some diversity in speakers. are the size of the room good for 7.1 ? or it too much -if choose bi-amping i must buy onkyo 1009 if not i will buy 809 ( i need to be 7.1 all time) |

Don't bother with bi amping, I tried bi amping my Monitor 9v6 and it made no difference what so ever. Also tried bi amping my Studio 100's and it wasn't worth the time and effort again.

I went from bi-wire to standard 10 gauge wire from Emotiva and heard no difference between the two. I also had my onkyo 3007 running 9.2 & 7.2 channels at one point in a 11X13 room and find that I'm very pleased with a 5.2 channel setup. I wouldn't bother with bi-amping or bi-wiring either. Too much time, money & effort only to end up with the same results! Crazyblue may not agree with me on this matter...... Hi guys,
I'm in Australia but been a member for a while. Looking to upgrade from my v5 studio 100s,690 and 20s to the signature S8,c5 and s2 for rears. Haven't heard them yet, is it worth the upgrade? |
