I think Amazon may be reading this thread. I look up at the deal listings at the top of the page, and there's Star Trek '09 on sale for $15.49. Still a bit steep for a 3 year old best seller, but an improvement nonetheless.

The ones I have left on my wishlist that haven't had much of a price drop at all are:

"Daft Punk Insterstella 5555" (hovers around the $30 mark)
"Escaflowne: The Movie" (it's always been $26 - $30)
"High School of the Dead" (was $60 for the longest time )
Any version of "Metropolis" (always seems to be over $20)
"Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" ($20 might be reasonable, but I'm hoping it'll drop to $15 at some point )
"Rubber" (I don't think it's ever been lower than $26 since I put it on my wishlist)
Glad I saw that someone already mentioned the price for Rubber. Escaflowne is $15 and change at both dvdplanet and deepdiscount

That theory wouldn't explain why Paramount hasn't lowered the retail on Star Trek '09, when the other single disc Star Trek films have all been on sale sub-$10, and so have the first two Transformer films. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason...
Each contract is different from movie to movie. Universal has a different approach to home video than Paramount.

I don't want to worry you, but that set is unlikely to get much cheaper. It's out-of-print and WB doesn't intend to manufacture more copies, whatever exists in retail stock now is it for the fancy pizza box set. I believe it could have been had for $25 for a brief time from WBshop, when they put it on clearance.

wow, didn't know it was out of print. It was on sale for $19.99 from Barnes and Noble and under $26 at LEAST 3 times on amazon as well as $25 on WBSHOP a few times.

If you still have a Blockbuster near you, a brand new copy of Salt is $9.99.

And like others have said, European Vacation goes on sale for $9-10 quite often.
