Default New home - new HT living room

I ended up replacing my Polk M30 surrounds with Mirage OMD-5's and picked up two Outlaw LFM-1 EX's during the last sale. There is definitely a huge bump in bass, and the overall acoustics sound much better with the couch placement not against a wall. So far it's a refreshing change of pace from my condo. I can blast music and movies much louder without disturbing the neighbors.

I finally got a chance to dial in the subs and recalibrate all the equipment since moving. Broke in the Outlaws with Mission Impossible 4 and shocked the in-laws. Very satisfied with the amount of bass (for now at least lol). It took my mother-in-law a second to figure out why the entire room was shaking during the Kremlin bombing scene.

Thanks, Almadacr! I had fun painting and decorating the new living room. I made sure to get extra deep and comfortable sofas and a big area rug to help with acoustics. Once I saw this piece of art, I had to have it for the home theater. It's called "Blown Away"

So the upgrade bug hit me again and hopefully for the final time. The wife will freak if I talk about buying new speakers in the next decade lol. Anyway I sold the Polk Monitors for a 10% loss and upgraded to Ascend Acoustics CMT-340's! Holy s- what a difference. Huge imaging, crystal clear highs, punchy mid bass, and tighter low end. Somewhat neutral on the lows and mids with a slightly forward high end. Man, those SEAS tweets can sing.

Also inverted the room which works so much better. I can watch TV from the snack bar in the kitchen, and it just flows better. Everything was wife approved, and even she enjoys the new set up.

Still waiting on a shipment from Monoprice for cable management to clean up the wires.

Truly a nice upgrade and a nice room, yes I do love the SEAS tweeters, it is what I have on all my speakers as well, not the same as yours but same brand, not Totem may have made some in house adjustments but truly SEAS makes nice tweeters.

Ascend make some great speakers in their price point. I've had my 170's and 340C for quite some time and really love the sound. What stands do you have the L/R 340's on? They look really nice, and I am in the market for a pair when I get the money for the HTM-200's as surrounds.

Thanks.

My old BA-100's use SEAS tweeters, so the Ascends put me right at home. I'm enjoying all music with these, but jazz vocals really seem to shine.

I'm using the Sanus SF26 steel speaker stands filled with sand. Also added a few dabs of JB weld to the joints to make it more rigid. I picked them up from Vanns for $65 as an open box return. Believe they are $99 normally. Great stands. Solid, good base and doesn't tip over easily, and they use a heavy gauge steel. I like how the matted paint on the steel matches the CMT-340 finish.

No problem. One more thing to add is that mine are 25" tall on hard floor with the rubber feet. I believe the spikes add another inch making them 26". I was hoping for 26" stands since my sofa is a little tall, so the speakers aren't flush with my ear level at 6'2". My wife gets the sweet spot instead. An inch won't make a difference though. Just nit picking here.

Thanks, Josh. This is my first house, and it's much better than living in a condo. Between the street traffic and brick house, my neighbors can't hear my subs even at high volumes.

I'm glad I went with the Mirage surrounds. Even though my surrounds are in the rear, it still sounds like sound is coming from the left and right of my sofa in some scenes. They're very easy to place in a living room home theater!

It plays well with the EX's at a lower crossover. I have it placed near field between the two sofas as an end table crossed over at 50hz while they Outlaws cover everything else. 50hz was the sweet spot not to localize any of the bass and still give some good tactile bass. The box is tuned to 22hz. Would have gone lower, but I could afford the real estate at the time it was built.
