Ok, I thought it was a simple post but I'll explain it to you.

I don't know s**t about GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. It might be brilliant. But I know that if you introduce a space raccoon into the same universe as any of The Avengers characters, the mass public will desert the movies. Same as they would if you introduced HOWARD THE DUCK into that world.

It's not the idea of making a GUARDIANS film that concerns me. It' s the proposed idea of cross-pollination. But I genuinely don't think Marvel are that stupid; so either I'm jumping to conclusions about the characters or they've got some kind of plan.

Or they ARE that stupid.

I get the feeling that you only know HOWARD THE DUCK from the movie but go back and get yourself some of the original comics. It's a satirical, adult comic book starring a hard-drinking, smoking duck that has a human girlfriend and dresses like Tom Waits; as far from Lucas's abortion as Nolan's Batman is from Adam West's (though considerably less fun).

Me, I'd like to see them do Howard properly (hence the use of the word "Personally") but I acknowledge in my post that it would likely struggle to find an audience, both because the character has been tainted forever and because it's a really weird comic-book. So I would not say that I am "asking" for it; just that I'd like to see it. But I don't expect to, and I don't think Marvel would be best advised-to.

Hope this has cleared everything up for you.

Especially if they want to tie it to the Avengers saga with
[Show spoiler]Thanos being involved
. Personally, I'm really digging the concept art. Have to see the CG in action before I'm 100% on board, but I trust Fiege and Co.

That's what worries me. I feel like Marvel is expecting everyone to go see this, because if we don't we won't understand what is going on in Avengers 2. They are banking on us going along for the ride. I was fine with Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, and Hulk, but Racoons with guns is getting into ridiculous territory. For me, at least. The racoon is causing me to have flashbacks of Starfox.

IDK I could love this gun wielding furry little bastard. Its possible, but its gonna take Marvel really making it work and selling it to me. No half-ass marketing.

Hey, I don't blame ya. Nor will I blame the general audience when it comes out. I can bet you everything I own that "From the producers of The Avengers" will be on every piece of advertisement.

Like I said, I have faith in Fiege and his team. I'm cautiously optimistic.

You just know that the raccoon is gonna totally steal the show. He HAS to. They know good & well that people are gonna have a hard time accepting him so they absolutely have to make him the showstealer.

Sweet Zombie Jesus. That concept art is awesome.

If Rocket is anything like his comic counterpart, he's gonna be the badass fan favorite of the team. Also... Rocket Vs. Thanos.

He's a tactical genius and master of weapons and explosives. Think of him as A-Team's Hannibal in Raccoon form.
Bat-Mite: "Batman's rich history allows him to be interpreted in a multitude of ways. To be sure, this is a lighter incarnation, but is certainly no less valid and true to the character's roots then the tortured avenger, crying out for mommy and daddy."

Ok it was a massive brain fart lol!

Yeah, they have pretty much delivered on all those films so I'm not going to doubt them right out of the gate.

*Grins at AlexG* And that's the more corny version from the 70's.

Check out his recent appearance along with the GotG on Avenger: EMH.

Marvel seems to be reaching on this one. Why couldn't we get an Iron Fist movie before these third-stringers (and I say that as someone that owns the entire first run of Guardians from the 90s)? I guess there is a reason why they call them Marvel Zombies...
