I'm glad this film and Zach Snyder have almost a cult following. Sucker Punch and Watchmen reminds me of Blade Runner in that they are films that people just dismissed when initially released but slowly appreciate over time. I have a feeling Superman will provide Mr. Snyder with the respect he deserves. In my opinion, many people currently view him in the same light as Michael Bay which is a terrible mistake.

Sucker Punch is so misunderstood.

I kept reading about it being misogynistic when the film was first released and and all I could think was "have you read any interview with Zack Snyder about the film? He explains all his choices and responds to other views on the film. Seriously, how hard is it to do a bit of research?"

Agreed. It's easier for some to just dismiss this film due to the casting alone. Seriously, all of the actresses as absolutly stunning. However, it has a terrific story and I enjoy each viewing (especially the initial viewing in IMAX).

I got into a big kerfluffle on another site over the merits of this 'steampunk' classic, and now pretty much refuse to discuss the film, especially those 180 degree out-of-whack charges of "misogyny". Thanks for the gentle reminder that some folks did indeed did get this remarkable work GoldMotel, and its cult reappreciation continues...

One way to approach this film is to read Ambrose Bierce's Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge...or watch the French adaptation broadcast during the original run of Rod Serling's Twilight Zone TV series. Sucker Punch almost qualifies as a twisted remake...

Count me along the Sucker Punch devotees.

There's really so much I could say about the misogyny claims being BS, from the decision to have the girls wear sexualized/fetishized costumes during the dissociative fantasies, to the male facsimiles that they fight (and defeat) in each fantasy world, to the final abuser/abused scene between Blue and Baby...

It's late, so I won't delve into it right now, but this movie gets better and better when you watch it and really try to dig deeper into what's going on.

It might be one of my biggest cinematic regrets that so many people not only didn't get it, but don't even seem interested in trying to.

Ah well, it feels good to know that I'm not alone, at least.
"Go, now. Go."

Snyder earned my trust with Watchmen! That is probably the best comic series I've ever read, and IMO Snyder did a great job with the movie! Were there changes, of course, that's going to happen...but he did a great job of capturing BOTH, Moore's story and Gibbons artwork.
Because I like Watchmen so much, I decided to give Sucker Punch a try...and I thought it was very good! It really surprised me, with it's depth of story. Yeah it's safe to say that Zach Snyder is on my Approved Directors List!

He's on your approved list and you can't even spell his first name?

Seriously though, he's on mine as well after Watchmen and Sucker Punch. I haven't seen a movie of his that I've disliked, even if I didn't like 300 as much as some and never ended up buying Dawn of the Dead after renting it. The only one I have yet to see is Legend of the Guardians.

You're right...I erroneously left off the "ary" in his full name Zachary.

Yea, I don't know why, but I have the same problem with his first name. No idea why I want to spell it as "Zach". I always have to check to see if its right and he's one of my top favorite directors. Maybe its the 'y' in Snyder that makes me think of a foreign spelling and thus I put 'h' instead of 'k'.

Default Re-issue of Sucker Punch on Blu-ray. Any differences?

I've noticed on sites like Best Buy, they have a June 2012 release date for the 2 disc Extended Cut. Also on Amazon, its being reissued on July 10. Why? I just bought it today at Best Buy and it was $10 with a Dark Knight Rises $5 off sticker coupon on the outer plastic.

So I'm guessing its merely a re-issue from Warner Bros. with that promotional coupon, is that correct?

So that would mean no tinkering with the quality?

There is a difference and that is in its eco-friendly flimsy cases that has holes near the discs backside which lead through some airways outside the case. So when you squeeze the container, you are actually touching the backside of the discs. It's crap packaging. Feel the case and make sure its strong and it would mean its the old version. The old version will probably have a white security strip at the top as well.

I was looking for a used, DISC-ONLY copy of the Extended Cut of the film.
Does anyone have an extra they want to sell or know of where I can buy myself just the disc of the Extended Cut (I dont need the case or art)?

Cant seem to find one on eBay

Thanks.
I was wondering, does the extended cut also have the theatrical version? If so, is it on the same disc where one can choose to play either version?

Two separate discs but if you have the Extended Cut, you're fine. The theatrical isn't worth watching.
desperately seeking MINT U.S. slips:
The Blind Side (original) - I Am Number Four (single disc, blue border) - Limitless - Sex and the City: The Movie

Please PM me if you have any of these available for purchase.

I woud love to find just the disc-only of the Extended Version for $5.00 because I already have the Theatrical version, the art, and a boatload of blu-ray amaray cases that hold two discs.

I'd put that Extended Disc disc in the case along with my Theatrical Disc.
