No, I have it set to go into some format that uses the surrounds when it switches like that. I was just watching Thor, and during a really bass heavy moment, the sub would get a lot louder, I can't figure out what could cause this. Makes calibrating the bass levels kind of difficult because they keep changing.

**Edit** Didn't read the rest of your questions the 1st time. According to the manual "Through" and "Direct" are the same when using HDMI. Bottom right hand corner of page 55 in the TX-NR809 manual it reads: Picture Mode Custom: All settings can be performed manually. ISF Day: Setting when a room is bright. ISF Night: Setting when a room is dark. Cinema: Select when the picture source is a movie or alike. Game: Select when the video source is a game console. Streaming: Attempts to reduce the mosquito noise and block artifact effects. Through: Does not adjust picture quality (changes resolution). Direct: Does not adjust picture quality (does not change resolution). When video is output from HDMI output(s), it is processed the same as “Through”. I believe if you use Composite, S-Video, or Component then it alters the signal?? Not too sure as the wording is confusing as I makes it seem like it alters the resolution when using "Through" and doesn't when using "Direct". Again according to the wording.

...I understand how Audyssey works for multi-channel/HT but what about 2 Channel for the 809 (XT) & 3009 (XT32):
a) Is their an Audyssey music setting for 2 Channel? Or do you have to select a multi-channel option? b) Is Audyssey negated when 2 Channel is employed? c) Is there another option/alternative? Any help would be appreciated. |

I have a few problems with my Pioneer 1122 that I just bought. It takes forever to switch inputs and when commercials come on sound is a lot higher. I'm thinking about switching to the TX-NR616 any opinions?

For all the other DD/DDTHD, DTS/DTSHDMA, and Multi-ch PCM, you will set the listening modes to Straight Decode. This will play all movie and TV sources as they should be played.

personally, Id say go for it, I like Onkyos more then Pioneers. Sorry to hear about the issues with the Pio. Commercials are louder always, but Ive never seen them be as loud as youve described in other threads.

direct just plays the audio signal as it receives it, ie. 2-ch or multi-ch, your subwoofer might play or might not depending on how you configure your settings. I dont want my sub playing for music, so I had it off for music. However now I have an Integrated Amp w/ HTBP so I dont worry about that. My IA only powers the R/L speakers, the Integra handles everything else. Integra is shut off all together for music.

There was some speculation that the 1010, 3010 and 5010 wouldn't have subeq ht with the xt32. Well if you looked on the rear panel, especially in the cases of the 3010 and 5010, with 4 sub outs, it was pretty much a given that they would. Also to justify the 1010 over the 818 it would have to have something to entice buyers as their specs are very similar.
So here it is from Audyssey................ Chris Kyriakakis Audyssey Hi EJ, Yes! Breaking News: Onkyo 1010, 3010 and 5010 will indeed have SubEQ HT. I'm sorry we didn't have this info earlier, but we are not always the first to know. July 16 |
