Though I don't get headaches or dizzy while watching films with this "style" of cinematography, I still admit that it royally pisses me off because when something interesting starts to happen the camera gets all shaky "to add suspense and drama." I call BS to that because you can't be lulled into a state of suspense when YOU CAN'T SEE WTF IS GOING ON!!!

The Bourne series was forever marred for me because I couldn't see 90% of the story being told in the first film.

Cloverfield was an amazing concept for a film completely ruined by the use of the camera.

Project X actually made me sick at the theater. First time that's ever happened. Normally I only have aesthetic issues with shaky cam, but this was completely different.

Battle:LA is the worst shaky cam, this movie agitated on all fronts.

Hunger Games had shaky cam and then calmed down, I was appreciative.

Huh? The shakey-cam in the Bourne series didn't start until Paul Greengrass took over directing with the second film. Doug Liman's work on the first film had comparitively very little shakey-cam.

Without the handheld cam angle, it would have just been... Godzilla.
Unless you're suggesting it should have still been first-person, but that person happened to have their own steady cam or dolly tracks.

My sister said Paranormal Activity made her sick. Not sure if she meant them cam, though...

Hunger Games is shaky? I really want to see that. Loved the trilogy.

forgot about this, but the second film was worse IMO.

as for Cloverfield - I remember seeing this on the huge Uptown screen and the shaky cam didn't get me sick, even though there was a sign up on the box office window, informing people that the film may or might not get some patrons motion sickness.

I remember TRYING to watch the first Bourne film in theatres. My friend was a projectionist at the time and I got to watch it with him in "testing" the night before it opened. It was just the 2 of us in the theatre. I literally had to stand up and walk around the theatre at several different times during the film because the camera was moving around so much when things SHOULD HAVE been clear & interesting. The camera movement was blurring and unfocusing all of the details, which ruined ALL of the action for me.

Thank God ...or whoever, that I never had the shakes problem with a film. And I'm an older dude (as age seems to affect this). But I had to sell off Chronicles of Riddick XBOX360 because if I continued after only five minutes in I would have hurled... no thanks.

Saw Bourne 2 at the theaters and got really sick. Since then I just watch shaky camera movies at home, with the smaller screen it doesn't give me the sick feeling. I had no problems with Bourne 2 and 3, District 9, United 93, Battle LA.
Top 15 movies in my collection:
1. Godfather Trilogy 2.Saving Private Ryan 3.The Last of the Mohicans 4.The Departed 5.The Silence of the Lambs 6.Batman Trilogy 7. Silver Linings Playbook 8.The Unforgiven 9.The Adjustment Bureau 10. The Shawshank Redemption 11. District 9 12. Aliens 13. The Town 14. A History of Violence 15. The Descendants

Cloverfield was the only that actually made me feel a little sick, no problems with any other movie.

Yes! It is definitely becoming more of a problem as I get older.

As hawaii sun mentioned, smaller screens do help. I remember finishing watching District 9 on my wife's laptop because I wanted to see how the movie ended but couldn't stand to see it on a big screen anymore.

I didn't see a list out there already, so please help me build a list so that those of us who get motion-sick can avoid these movies!

Although I do not get sick in anyway I still think it can ruin the moment has I feel it's lazyness on the directors part. But this isn't all that new just used more today.

The first film I can remember that used it really bad was at the end of the first Leathal Weapon film with the fight between Riggs and Mr Joshua. You could barely tell what was going on.
"Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that."

That is exactly what high intensity close quarters combat is like Battle: Los Angeles brought it to life.

None of them make me dizzy. But I am a big fan of the shaky cam.
