From those screenshots comparissons I don't find it worthy of an upgrade of my old total recall steelbook. I actually like the old transfer more from the look of those screenshots. Only the full shot on the mars surface looks better in the remaster, less over saturated.

Cool. Was so looking forward to watching this next weekend but doubt it thanks to hmv mucking up deliveries.

The thing about that review is that it clearly supports a faithful representation of the film elements. This Total Recall release represents one of the few products that has had its colours digitally tweaked in order to surpass how the movie originally looked, and that can certainly be viewed as a wonderful thing. For others, the presentation can looked dated, but I think this is an entirely subjective territory.

Red banner looks good, glad I'm getting the SB, but like the look of the standard. Clearly gonna have a slip

Mind-Bending Edition due here shortly expected to compare?

Did the German Studio Canal release use a different master to the UK Studio Canal release? Caps-a-holic did a comparison and the German disc looks really harsh, the UK reviews screenshots look a lot more natural.

I had basically ignored the pending UK release as I thought they would share transfers...

Umm.. that's the old disc from 2010.

Oh OK, I think they added it recently that threw me off

EDIT: £15 is a bit steep though, even if there is a steelbook

I have to disagree a little, here--I think £15 is reasonable for the SteelBook, considering the remaster, the addition of all the major extras the Studio Canal DVDs had, and the new ones they created, in addition to the steel casing, which I'm now advised is packed separately by Amazon.

That said, the SteelBook is still £16 at Amazon right now, and I would like to see the regular version down to £12 on release day.

5 for PQ seams a bit over the top i doubt this film will look like reference material. And what's with the comparison with Criterion and Warner brothers releases

I love Total Recall and Ive got the original UK blu. Im sorry but 5/5 for PQ and AQ on this new release?! I find that very difficult to believe! Seems like over the top marking for sure.

It depends. Does it represent what was shot on film? If it perfectly represents this then it must be a 5. It all relative.
