Do you think the non-Elite branded Sharp is as good as the Elite version in terms of everyday use? |

No immediate plans to upgrade...if anything I'd prefer to have a flat panel so I could throw it up on the wall instead of these large sets since I don't own a house and space is an issue sometimes. PQ wise I am still happy with it; I agree with some of the other posters that the image feels more natural when compared to other sets. My roommate has a lcd and we put them side by side when we first moved in together and the difference in picture is crazy. Not saying one is necessarily better than the other, but the difference surprised me when viewing the same program/game.

And so when we're going to upgrade to at least a 70", we're not planning on wall-mounting it, but rather putting it on its pedestal so it can remain on the "cabinet" center part of the wall unit, with the rest of the unit's pieces around it. It is going to require some modification -- perhaps extensive modification -- because the space that's there now can maybe hold a 55" or so... What did you mean with regard to comparing your roommate's LCD to your SXRD -- the SXRD's picture was more stunning? Do you have any pics of your setup? I'd love to see the SXRD in action... |

KDS-50A2020 owner here. Had it since 2007. Replaced bulb once back sometime around beginning of 2011. TV looks nice, but I def plan on upgrading to a bigger TV next year.

I have the exact same model -- thanks for checkin' in! Can you give me some more input in terms of how you like the set's PQ? Do Blu-rays look good on it, still? What picture mode are you running it in? Can you share some pictures of your setup? |

Great screen and setup in your gallery -- I love the step-down room! I think I actually viewed your pics before... Does your 70" SXRD seem large enough for your space? If you like the SXRD so much, why are you itching to "upgrade" to the Sharp? I'm simply curious is all... Thanks bud! |

Thanks for the compliments on my setup H.T. I want to upgrade because I want to be able to put my TV against the wall, or hang it on the wall. And I dont have to worry about changing bulbs. When I brought my TV Sony had the same TV, but it wasn't a rptv, it was flat in the back just like the Sharp I won't. But that version, "are you ready for this" cost over $33,000. Now aprrox. five yrs later I can get the same size TV for less than half the price I paid for mine. I could easily put a 80 in down there with room to spare. Too bad that Sharp 80 in wasn't available in 2007.

I'll chime in and say I have a 60A2000 as well. To my eyes, it still has an incredible picture! I'm on my 2nd bulb and (knock on wood) no optical block issues. Like others have said, I think the picture strikes a nice balance between having a sharp, clear picture and at the same time it looks very natural and not "over processed" like I see with LCD, LED, and Plasmas.

50A2000 owner since 2006! I think I'm on bulb number four at this point - just replaced it not too long ago. OB has been replaced twice. I'll replace it when it dies, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Thanks for checkin' in, all my bruddahs!
Due to a recent fish tank disaster that flooded our entire house, we may be in a position to upgrade our SXRD, finally, to a much bigger-sized screen -- we're looking at the 70" Sharp LCD, but I won't know until we get an insurance claim check... I'm HOPING that at a 12 foot seating distance, the visual impact difference between the 50 and 70 will be substantial...

As for as picture mode, right now I actually just recently as of a couple weeks ago reset it back to default. I had been running settings I found on CNET several years ago, but PS3 games were looking pretty dark and I was having to bump up the brightness in game. After resetting to default, I don't have that problem anymore. Picture may not be as natural looking as it was with the CNET settings, but still looks great in my opinion.
