Any loss of data is a real bummer, but the blu-ray community along with the Mods have done a great job of "righting the ship".
Ok,didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

In the lost portion, I think I commented on how people are probably going to be surprised when they realize Amy Adams was the female leads in this - years before anyone knew who she was.

Likewise, Elizabeth Banks pops up as a girl Leo hooks up with:

And Ellen Pompeo turns up as a stewardess.

Spielberg really has a knack for finding future stars. I noticed when watching SAVING PRIVATE RYAN recently that it was actually distracting how many people turned up who had since became famous (Bryan Cranston, Paul Giamatti, etc).

Well, Amy Adams is credited in the opening credits, so it shouldn't be too difficult for people to discover she's in the movie .

But I agree with you on Saving Private Ryan. Apart from the two you mentioned, when Nathan Fillion suddenly turns up, it's really awkward. I also think he didn't do the scene that well, which doesn't make the scene better.
Blu-ray releases should be perfect representations of their cinema counterparts.

Brian Cranston was known from his recurring role on Seinfeld and Malcolm in the Middle long before Breaking Bad and Paul Giamatti had already been featured in a major role in Private Parts too.

Benedict Cumberbatch is in War Horse, completely unrecognizable from his roles in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Sherlock

I remember watching Saving Private Ryan and thinking - "hey - that's Pig Vomit". I didn't think, "Hey - that's Paul Giamatti." In other words, he didn't become a star overnight, it took years and several iconic performances.

The man should have won the Oscar for American Splendor, and wasn't even nominated.

...I think Steven watches a lot of TV and movies...
...people in bit roles like Bryan Cranston in Seinfeld will pop up a bit later in one of his films...
...you see it time and again...
...and then you have the case where if they are in a Spielberg movie, and have that on their resume...
...it is quite helpful in getting future jobs and making a career for them...

I don't remember seeing Cranston but I sure remember a VERY young Nathan Fillion.

What's a "cheque"?

Kidding. I know it's the British spelling.

Not a huge Spielberg fan, but this one is great. Love Dicaprio in it.
