Looks like I'm going to have to order this one. I've waited this long so. . .

Amazon has'em all day long. I'm beginning to think there's something wrong with you people thinking that everything should or could be found in a B&M store. B&M's have limited shelf space, and they can't stock every single release for an unlimited time period.

There was a time when you could regularly find what you wanted at a large B&M store. Best Buy use to never fail me, but now they do it all the time. I would buy around 95%-97% of my Blu-rays there, with a few at Fry's as backup. Amazon was always the last ditch option. Now, I may still check Best Buy/Fry's out of sheer habit, but it's Amazon that is getting the vast majority of my business. Certainly for me, when it comes to catalog titles, B&M stores have been replaced by Amazon.

To be fair, nowadays you also have to look hard in B&Ms for new catalog titles.

I went to Wal Mart looking for The Delta Force (they got it late, as well...I looked three times) and when I finally found it, it was with all the 6/12 Warner Blu-ray catalog releases on an end cap way in the back of the section, past all the other new release Blu-rays and most of the DVD section itself. I had spent literally 15-20 minutes looking for a copy--I actually found an employee and explained the situation politely. He acknowledged me briefly, but every time I go back, the same releases are still in that spot.

Even earlier today, at Best Buy, I had to spend ten minutes looking for Blade II, which I finally found in the middle of the store in the back side of one of their three-dimensional rectangular cardboard displays that have slots to shove loose stacks of Blu-rays into. Despite being its release day, it was not at the front, not in the New Release section and not with Blade and/or Blade: Trinity in the TDKR Movie Cash display. It wasn't even in the main "Blu-ray A-Z" section.

I firmly believe that this isn't just ignorant staff, but wholly ignorant policy. I used to work at a Virgin Megastore, and I guarantee you that staff in stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart have personnel who know damn well exactly which titles come out which week, and it should be a concrete policy (with disciplinary consequences) to put all items releasing in a certain period (catalog or not) at the front of the section in a clearly marked display, or at the very least, in the alphabetized (or otherwise sequenced) main section.

I shouldn't have to wander around the entire section to find a release that came out two weeks ago, let alone a disc that just released on the day.

Ok OUTLAND fans... I watched the film tonite for the very first time and felt a little let down... I didn't know it was going to be an after school special set in space! I suppose many fans grew up with the film and it is part of their childhood. I am the same way with movies I grew up with that people younger than me never get. Is that reasonable to say?

I didn't hate the film I was just surprised... I didn't know anything about the plot etc... I own the 2 Disc soundtrack since I am a Jerry Goldsmith fan... just never had ventured to see the movie.

I will admit I bet the image quality people are loving. I can only imagine what the former DVD and LaserDiscs looked like! So I can appreciate a good HD upgrade. Will for sure hang onto the disc. I guess it works better as a rainy weekend film (Make sure your home theatre is DARK!)
Stop the Replacing of original Studio Opening / Closing logos! These are becoming endangered and should be kept intact. They are part of film history.

Having seen it a few times in my life on TV, but never owning it, I look forward to watching it tonight. It's been said the movie is basically "High Noon" in space. I've never seen High Noon, although I will be picking it up next week for sure.

I don't see any problem with looking in a B&M store to see if they have any copies.

I can understand if you don't like it as much as most of us 35 to 40 year olds... but after school special?!? I'm not sure I remember a "conjunction junction, what's your function" with explosive decompression involved. Or copulating couples doing it on top of bar tables.

Watched this twice through...I can only echo the comments so far about the picture, it's a great, filmic transfer that's surprisingly clean (i.e. sharp, not DNRed) for a film of this vintage. The sound is also excellent, and I have to agree with Michael that Warner likely sourced the mix from the mag tracks used in the Megasound 70mm presentations--Hyams even mentions in the commentary that the point of the 70mm presentation was for the enhanced sound, not visuals. Speaking of the audio commentary track, it was wonderful to have, but Hyams did tend to gush over Connery a bit too often for my taste. Still he imparted a lot of information, and he seems to have had a blast making the film and reminiscing about it for the track.

Looks fantastic, but the movie didn't really hold up. The first half is still great, but
[Show spoiler]I always remembered the "High Noon" countdown being spread out over more of the film, instead of only like 10 minutes... Hyams could've ratcheted up the suspense by making the dread last longer, other than a couple of shots of a clock and suddenly they're already there. The last 30 minutes is pretty bad and rather clumsy, especially the "climax". Oh well, the first hour is still solid.

I just finished this and it is an excellent transfer considering the movie is not well known. Much better than I had hoped for. I also watched Brainstorm and that's a different story there.

Anyone find this in any stores? Haven't looked yet but I just wanted to know for when I go out searching this weekend. Been waiting awhile for this one to come out! Hyams is such an underrated director. I'm stoked that he and JCVD are doing another movie together.

I just expected more to the plot then a simple
[Show spoiler]smuggling drugs into the workplace
storyline lol The whole time I was thinking they needed to send Nancy Regan in there to clean house

Also for people searching for it in stores... prob will be a full $19.99 price tag but I would bet Barnes & Noble would stock it.
