You mean the 3D movies tend to have the standard "proper" version of the movie on the same disc? Has many other releases followed done this?

Yes, the listing has also been updated to reflect this.....

You may not like 3D, I'm not sure, but you cannot really say the 2D is the proper version, I'm not a hugh fan of 3D if I'm honest, but if a film is theatrically released in both formats then both are 'proper'.

"proper" was just a sly dig at 3D . It's an interesting discussion about this movie though, as it sounds 2D is Ridley Scott's preferred print, in 2011 pre-release he said in "I’ll never work without 3D again" flash forward to 2012 and he called Prometheus' 3D "an experiment" and when Mark Kermode asked him if 3D was the future of cinema he hummed n harred then went onto say the 2D print was beautiful.

It'll be interesting to see if he chooses 3D for The Counselor as it's not big blockbuster movie so they'd be no internal pressure for 3D from the studio, any 3D choice would more than likely be Scott's. There's no doubt Blade Runner 2 will be 3D, the amount that'll cost.

People can't keep quoting the Mark Kermode interview as Ridley Scott's actual opinion on 3D. It is clear how much Kermmode hates 3D and wants it out of the cinema's and in that interview he was jumping on the slightest thing that Ridley said that wasn't "3D is amazing".

I don't think the "I will never work without 3D" quote actually came from Ridley Scott himself (I might be wrong). He said he would shoot the blade runner sequel in 3D so he can't have too big a problem with it.....

They're having a laugh at £24 for the SteelBook.

Would like to order it though so I hope it comes down to £18 or less.

Steelbook pre-ordered for £24 but I've also pre-ordered the 3D set from Sainsburys for £15. The steelbook really needs to come down in price for me to keep it, £9 extra is way too much, no matter how nice it is (and it is nice).

Went for the 2D version from Tesco, using the 15% discount code and 10% Quidco will work out just under £11.50

Kermode is completely biased against 3D but Ridley Scott didn't sound enthusiastic until he mentioned the 2D print. It doesn't give the impression he's against it at all but his stance was definetly sitting on the fence.

Quote:
3D has been a wonderful exercise but I was brought up as a camera operator so its really about lensing and all that kind of stuff. So with the help I’ve had from a wonderful cameraman and his technical team its been, for me, a pretty straight forward ride. That said I’ll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes. I love the whole process. 3D opens up the universe of even a small dialogue scene so I’ve been very impressed with that.
- Ridley Scott

All honesty though though only Ridley Scott movies I have any remote interest in are his sci-fi outings, the rest leave me cold.

Haha, someone on eBay is selling this for £40 already.

Here's a blatant lie from the description:

"PROMETHEUS 3D & 2D EXCLUSIVE STEELBOOK BLU RAY NEW AND SEALED

THIS IS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT AND EXTREMELY RARE

RELEASED OCTOBER 1ST AND SENT OUT ONCE I RECEIVE THEM FROM THE SUPPLIER."
