Here's a true story, i've only ever seen ONE Studio Ghibli movie yet here I am buying most of the UK releases (all the Miyazaki ones) and dishing out £55+ for a Japanese release.

I had seen "Only Yesterday", "Princess Mononoke", and "Spirited Away": And I have been buying all the Japanese releases.

The only one I saw was Grave Of The Fireflies a few years back on DVD though obviously I do intend to watch all the classics at some point.

How I envy you. You're up for some good fun. Always enjoy seeing them another time, but the first time...

Smile shipping soon!

My Amazon Japan order of

Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea
Whisper of the Heart
Grave of the Fireflies
From Up On Poppy Hill
The Borrower Arrietty
My Neighbor Totoro
Tales From Earthsea

is about to ship, and that will complete my collection of Ghibli films on (Japanese) Blu-ray, for now. Should be in California in just a few days. Estimated delivery date is Friday or Monday.

Still hoping to see some pictures of the combo pack for Totoro/Fireflies as soon as someone here gets 'em. Share the wealth, guys!

You have no idea. It's just icing on the cake of the good life, right now...I get to marry the greatest woman I've ever met in two weeks, and then we're off to Peru for a couple of weeks. But in the meantime, her and I get to watch Ghibli Blu-rays together while we make wedding favors ourselves.

Not tooooo bad: my Totoro/Hotaru duo set has been shipped today. EMS, so it should be here fairly quick. Fingers crossed, hoping it won't get stuck at customs...

Yesasia sure are slow. I've been waiting for Nausicaä, Laputa, Whisper of the Heart and My Neighbor the Yamadas for over three weeks now including the week or so it took for them to get everything in stock.

Still says "Waiting for Stock" on my Ghibli Museum and Yaganawa's Canals DVDs. Ordered over a week ago.

I also ordered the Joe Hisaishi in Budokan and Ogu Kazuo Exhibition Blu's. Guess I'll be waiting for those another 2-3 weeks.

I guess it'll arrive when it arrives. I'm playing it cool. Impatient,....but cool:

My Totoro has shipping from CDJapan and they have checked it to make sure it is 100% perfect.

Fireflies was delayed from YesAsia till this morning as they were picking me out a pristine copy from the warehouse.

Now the wait to see if they turn up and meet my my high expectations.

Let's hope so!

Question though: I assume that most of the copies they ship out are in NM to M condition when shipped, but most of the copies that arrive damaged have been so during shipping. How do you feel about not being able to control that?

Well, YesAsia has changed my order status to "Processing" now, and they've reserved the money on my account, so I'm guessing they will have sent it by tomorrow.

It could well be from shipping mate. There is a big chance that it is and there's nothing I can do about that. ;P

That being said, I'm 90% sure that many of these are prone to being "imperfect" from the factory process.

What do you think?
