I don't think he's helping himself by playing older characters right now (he's only 54). He was aged to play Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, for example, which was where he most resembled the aged Dracula from this film. The graying beard/goatee he's been sporting in recent years doesn't help, either--he looks younger completely clean shaven, and probably younger still without glasses:

From March 2012 with beard:

From December 2011 with mild stubble:

"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

Considering Groundhog Day, a Scandanavian Sony Classics release, is now being released in the UK, that this would be the same kind of deal. I hope they don't re-release Almost Famous or Donnie Brasco in the UK though as I imported them :P

Isn't Donnie Brasco owned by Entertainment in Video in the UK?

Sony appear to have it back again, as it's been scheduled for the Sony Movie Channel on Sky.

Ahh right. Then maybe Donnie Brasco will be released in this collection then. If that's right, then I guess we may also be getting:

Monty Python's Life of Brian
Kramer vs. Kramer
Bram Stoker's Dracula
A Few Good Men
Donnie Brasco
Gattaca
Almost Famous
and
The Da Vinci Code

They're all the Scandinavian releases.

I was the same with Gandhi, Easy Rider, Midnight Express, Close Encounters, Dr Strangelove, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. But, I have OCD, so I re-buy them haha.

In all srsns, was this disc a botch job or a faithful presentation?

I mean, the reviews didn't exactly inspire confidence, but it does carry the "Director Approved" stamp...

Well, my answer lies in the fact that I don't own the BD, but rather the Region 3 Superbit DVD.

And apart from Keanu Reeves' English "accent", I love this movie. It's as big and broad as an Italian opera, that I honestly don't care that it takes a few liberties with the novel. The one with Bela Lugosi does it as well, and that's the most well known version of the character.
I love the movies' expressionistic touches using old school effects and Gary Oldman does a awesome job as Dracula and has some of the most memorable scenes. IMO this is one of the best Dracula movies out there. If only we could post edit Keanu Reeves out of the film.

No kidding. Shadow of the Vampire is highly underrated. Would love it on Blu.
