As the OP said, this is long overdue, but I'm elated with this announcement. An eventual must-have for my library.

Anyone who as been in the main Criterion thread for the last 4 years know that this is one of my big "wish list", can't believe it's finaly coming. Will retire my well used DVD after almost a decade

What a confusing listing. It seems to suggest that they will NOT be porting over the various essays or the photo gallery from the DVD. Can this be right? Why in the world would they do this?

I can half understand why people might click threads that don't interest them.

Posting to them, though?

That one tends to baffle me.

I have been looking forward for this upgrade for years. It's a masterpiece. And in my personal top 5.

... together with Cannibal Holocaust btw. There, I said it again, P@t_Mtl. Now bring on them laughing smilies.
Most wanted blu-ray upgrades: Seconds, Suspiria (remaster), Danza macabra, L'orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock, Nosferatu (1979), Il boia scarlatto, La frusta e il corpo, Sei donne per l'assassino, Dracula (1979), The Haunting (1963), Jungfrukällan, L'avventura, Spoorloos, Les yeux sans visage, Prince of Darkness, The Changeling (1980), Ringu, Ju-on, Psycho II, Psycho III, The Maze (1953, 3-D)

No idea. Maybe they're just too hard to encode or they've lost the rights to use them. They seem to have made an effort to create some new supplements and essays to cover the ones that aren't being ported over. Unfortunately, we still lose the photo galleries and bios.

Anyway, very happy about this release. I sold my DVD yesterday in anticipation.

I'll admit it's not the end of the world. I hardly ever look at text screens and photo galleries and such. Still, it's just weird not to include things that would take so little space. Must be some strange rights issue, as you say.
