If I were ever to buy an ATL Braves jersey, I think I'd grab a Martin Prado #14...

I love my Heyward jersey, though I feel weird wearing it anywhere other than to games, and since I have very little interest in the Royals, I've only worn it 6 or 7 times. Fortunately, once was to see the Braves play in St Louis, and then again last year for a game in Atlanta.

Good luck. Yanks are beasting this year with some pretty significant injuries.
BTW can I buy a Bat Cowl or should I just send you some boxed mac and cheese and some canned beans and we call it even?

There are a few websites I've been reading lately who are quite certain that we'll figure out a way to get Cole Hamels for a bunch of prospects. That would be...A W E S O M E!!! Must notably bleacher report.

Cubs are on fire right now, just swept the Diamondbacks and winning 12 of their last 16. They are still 16 games under .500 but it's nice to see the team playing so well. They'll likely trade Dempster within the next couple days and he's been on fire with 33 straight innings without giving up a run so he should bring some decent prospects, and then they'll move Garza who should bring even better prospects since he's not a free agent until after next season. The Cubs have some good young position players so if they'll prospects pan out they could be a decent team in 2014.

Unless you lock him up long-term as part of the deal, it would be a HORRIBLE decision. He's just going to go right back to the Phillies, assuming they want to re-sign him.

Quote:
The Phillies are said to be planning to offer at least $120 million to star lefthander Cole Hamels in an effort to keep him in Philadelphia and prevent him from becoming a free agent, according to sources.

The Phillies hope to to keep Hamels, but some people within the organization aren't overly optimistic they can prevent him from going to free agency at this point. Phillies GM Ruben Amaro, who is credited by people in the organization for his ability to lock up the team's stars to long deals, has said all along he hopes to keep Hamels. Amaro declined comment on the amount of the coming offer to Hamels.

Hamels has said, in turn, that he has very much enjoyed his time in Philadelphia, and he does live there year-round. But there are those wondering whether he may have concerns about the team's future after it's uncharacteristically rough start this season, or may even wonder why there hasn't been a more recent offer. The Phillies are believed to have proposed a deal for "Jered Weaver money,'' or about $85 million over five years, late last year.

An offer of $120 million over five years, which was the very deal Cliff Lee signed with the Phillies, was said by one person with Phillies ties to be their logical offer, though two management people on other teams said they believed they may have to go to something closer to Johan Santana's $137.5-million, six-year deal, or even more, to have a realistic chance at a quick deal.

Agent sources have suggested since spring Hamels could get upwards of $150 million, or more, as a free agent.

The Phillies are almost forced to go past Matt Cain's $112.5-million, five-year deal with the Giants. The two pitchers have had similar careers, but Hamels is lefthanded and has a better lifetime winning percentage (though often being on a better team helps). Hamels is 11-4 with a 3.0& ERA this year for the last-place Phillies.

The Brewers are believed willing to offer their star free-agent-to-be pitcher Zack Greinke $100 million over five years, though there's nothing to indicate he may take that.

If Greinke has a $100 million offer from the Brewers he'd be crazy to turn it down. A lot of the big market teams are going to shy away from him in free agency due to his anxiety issues and I honestly can't imagine him getting a $100 million offer from any other team.

As for Hamels everything I've heard is that he is intent on entering free agency for the first time in his career and it's going to take a huge offer for him to sign an extension during the season. The Phillies have never signed a pitcher to a deal longer than 5 years but they don't have a shot at keeping Hamels if they don't go at least 6 years.

If you had our offense with that staff you'd be ahead of "Brooklyn" by 15. Our starting rotation and bullpen are in shambles. Going into tonight we're 3rd in the Majors in runs scored yet, we're only one game above .500.

CINCINNATI -- Joey Votto will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, and he is expected to miss three to four weeks, the Reds announced Monday.

Votto will be placed on the 15-day disabled list. The club will announce a corresponding roster move Tuesday.

"Joey Votto met with the medical staff this evening and has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his left knee," said Reds general manager Walt Jocketty. "He is going to have arthroscopic surgery tomorrow and should miss 3-4 weeks. Joey is very comfortable with the decision and is eager to return to the lineup."

Votto entered the day 9-for-32 (.281) since he returned on July 3 after missing a couple of games with a left knee injury, which he suffered on June 29. While he was 2-for-3 in Sunday's 4-2 Reds win over the Cardinals, he was a combined 0-for-8 in the first two games of the series.

"It is in my best interest and in the best interest of the team to do it now, so that I can be healthy during the last two months of the pennant race," Votto said.

Votto, who played in the All-Star Game last week in Kansas City, came in batting .342 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs and a league-best .465 on-base percentage. He has appeared in 86 of Cincinnati's previous 88 games and missed only three starts.

Rookie Todd Frazier started in Votto's place on Monday against the D-Backs. Frazier filled in well for Scott Rolen over extended periods this season already. On days that Frazier needs to replace Rolen, veteran Miguel Cairo can also play first base.

To take Votto's roster spot, the Reds could summon veteran switch-hitter Dioner Navarro. Although not on the 40-man roster, Navarro entered the day batting .339 at Triple-A Louisville. Xavier Paul, who was signed to a Minor League deal over the weekend, began Monday batting .323 and hits left-handed.

But the hottest-hitting option at Louisville could be recent-arrival Henry Rodriguez, who is on the 40-man roster. Rodriguez, a 22-year-old who plays second base and third base and is a switch-hitter, is also batting .339 this season but has only nine games logged at the Triple-A level.

But no matter how you slice it, none of these replacements can make up for the loss of Votto. The 28-year-old, who won the 2010 National League Most Valuable Player Award, entered the day leading the Majors with 36 doubles and the NL with 66 walks. He was in the top 10 in almost every statistical category this season. He also was a team-best .371 hitter with runners in scoring position.

The Reds will now face their biggest test of the season over the next three to four weeks.

Braves are on a tear again with 7 straight wins. Hopefully they can keep it going. This team has been one of the most inconsistent I've ever seen. All year they lose 5+ in a row or win 5+ in a row.

Still can't believe Philly has been this bad all season. They're 13.5 games out and on pace to lose 92 games.

Twins are up 19-5 over the O's. That's more runs than we scored in our entire last series.

Giants went 0-6 on there last road trip right before the all star break, now another 6 straight on the road, will be a tough series vs the Braves, and Zito who's been hit or miss gets the nod today

We suck on the road

Damn, Craig Kimbrel is putting up silly numbers. 27 saves, 1.29 ERA, 35 IP, 62 Ks vs 10 BBs.

Lefties are 3-56 (.054) with 33 Ks against him! All 3 hits were singles. In 119 ABs, he's allowed 14 hits, 2 XBHs

Poor Jonathan Sanchez, he's been designated for assignment, after going (1-6) with a 7.76 ERA, I'll always have a soft spot for you for what you brought us past few years, but thank you for Melky Royals
