It doesn't say "Made in China" on the tag of your catbus though, does it?

Made some progress with my fan-made covers:

I'm not expecting Ocean Waves to be part of the silhouette line-up, at least not initially, but I find the image used for the silhouette to be quite beautiful. I went with fan art for the Mononoke Hime silhouette, couldn't really find a good image of the forest spirit. You can't really tell though, can you?

EDIT:

YES, the Ghibli ga Ippai Short Short, Gauche the Cellist and Conan DVDs ARE bootlegs. Didn't know that when I bought them though.

It does, but outsourcing to China happens all the time.

Now those covers look great. It never even occured to me that Mononoke could use that colour palette, and now I feel a bit shortsighted

Congratulations on finally getting those last discs.

I just started watching Conan, hadn't seen it before and I'm really surprised it hasn't been licensed. If the Japanese set had had subs, I wouldn't hesitate getting it for a second!

Is it just me, or does the BD have a bit of red tint to it? Not at all at Spirited Away levels, but the whites do look more "white" in the TV broadcast and DVD versions...

Red? I'd say green... But yes, it definitely has a tint of something, as did the rest of the Ghibli BDs

Make sure to wash them before you handle the BDs.

Is there anyone else that owns the Nausicaä BD that have a problem with the disc not attaching to the white button thing?

No problem my friends.

Comparing the BD to the DVD is seriously crazy. Don't compare it to the HDTV pictures if you are after being mind blown.

Well, there's a minor tint, but if you look at the NTV screening of last week (http://www.ghibli.jp/10info/007692.html) and the DVD screen shots, those colors look more boosted (look at Mei's dress, almost fluorecent ). To me the blu ray looks more natural, which is what I prefer. Well, as long as it's not like Spirited Away, that was a major error (of which I take it they have learned!).

The BD definitely looks more filmic, which I endorse, I just feel the colours may be just a tad muted. I do prefer it to the excessive boosting going on in the other versions (look at those tomatoes!) and this definitely seems to be the best the film has looked on a home video format so far, so I'm not going to complain.

Owh... and by the way... there was a release event in Japan today. For those interested, a pic below. And for those who don't recognize the persons in the picture, then why are you buying the Japanese release anyway? (sorry... I'll stop acting silly) If I find some time, I'll post some more info about it.

How can I be expected to know the faces of people I've only heard the voices of?

Which two titles do you think they'll announce next?

I could use one of these right about now btw. :http://www.ebay.com/itm/My-Neighbor-...item2a1fae4416

Actually, I didn't expect anyone to know them. Was just joking around. ^_^

About the 2 next titles... I am placing my bet on Kiki and Mononoke or Chihiro. Those would be good titles for the holiday season.

Mmmm My bet is for 2/3 options:

- Porco Rosso
- Only Yesterday
- Princess Mononoke ---- really NEED this in BD.
