Don't rejoice just yet as my local store knew nothing about it and checked with everyone in the store that they could think of. No dice.

i'll tell you that for the most part price matching depends on how good your local store is doing in comparison with ones in it's district and the company

I still haven't seen the sign at my store. It looked pretty big in the pic, although that may have simply been the perspective; it may be that the person was simply really close to the sign when taking the pic.
But not that long ago a rep (who I think is one of the better ones at my usual store) at the guest services desk told me that they were now PM'ing any local retailer and that you didn't need to bring in an ad. I was returning something that I said I found cheaper at B&N, which is what I think prompted her to tell me of this new policy. It was my understanding that the official policy (and I think the protocol followed at my store up until then) was to require a physical print ad to PM. Now the rep said verification via web or by phone call was sufficient. It seems like this is something that other people have been able to do at their BB's, but mine was pretty strict about requiring the physical ad for PM's until then so this was news to me. She didn't mention anything about PMing Amazon, but I guess that's just the next step. I returned the item anyway as she said they wouldn't honor coupons or other discounts (like member discounts), just the actual sales price. Still, I was happy to hear that as that opened up more options for me. For Trade: Have: 6 x $8 FF6 Fandango vouchers, 5 x $12 General Mills movie vouchers (any movie), 1 x $12 Monsters University movie voucher.Want: Any of the following (or some combo) for each $10 code (half for the FF6 codes) (A) 2 iTunes DC's, or (B) 2 slips, or (C) $5 GC, or (D) 1 inexpensive blu (<$10 type), or (E) DMR codes or ticket stubs, or (F) other types of unique codes, or (G) open to other suggestions. . . . . . . . Please see my WTT thread for details. |

I priced matched 500 Days Of Summer for the 9.99 Amazon price and used the Upgrade & Save to get it for $5
I noticed the list for stores that they price match now got much longer.

At least for a couple of weeks now. Like the OP said it still could be a YMMV. Because as I mentioned one of the main reasons was to drive out an HH Gregg which is across the street. I also didn't know if it was everything in the store or just TVs and other electronics.

Not sure how stores work in your area, but a lot of the stores(aka wal mart) in my area do not price match the same retail chain. From what I have seen, some have been doing this for awhile. I have never seen the big 3 foot sign in the store until this week, so have not known about it until this week. The other 4 stores I have been to in this area do not have the sign, but when questioned said they do match.

Last time I was in my Best Buy I was told they don't PM Amazon. I wonder if they've changed their policy at that particular store since then. Doubtful, since my store sucks hardcore. If I ever step foot in there again, I'll find out. If they do PM Amazon now then I'll probably sell my soul and start shopping at Best Buy again for the sake of convenience.

Well it shouldn't be because, companies are suppose to implement the same rules and regulations policies for all locations in the world.

Unless the Amazon price matching is some sort of pilot program. A lot of companies will select a few markets to try something new, and see how it works. If they like the results, they expand it to all stores, if not, they stop doing it, or leave it only in their test markets.

I was told that it's a pilot program that will apply to states where Amazon collects sales tax. Apparently, Texas is first, and the other states will follow suit soon. After that, if successful, BB will take it nationwide.
