Ok so I've almost made my mind up regarding buying a SR7005

I'm mostly going to play blurays, and do not want any kind of video alteration/processing or whatever done to the signal.

So most importantly, how is the video processing on this thing?

- Networking features on the SR5006 via the Ethernet port (updates, airplay, dnla, pandora, napster, rhapsody, etc.).

However with the SR5006 you lose the 7.2 pre-out (2.2 pre-out instead). To add a turntable later on, the SR6006 might be a better alternative in regards to that aspect.
Thanks for the help. I pulled the trigger on the 6006 this morning. Should have it sometime early next week!

You can turn the video processing to off for HDMI inputs (or completely off).

If it's turned off then why bother?

I won't comment on the video processing which (if I'm not mistaken is the same on the SR7005 and SR6006) since I've never used it. From what I can see it passes through the signal without alteration (except for the overlay, when you change the volume, etc.).

Excellent!

What exactly do you turn off, ip scaler and video convert?

Yes, that's it.

i/p scaler: Off (you can also set it to Analog if you need to scale analog content only, (HDMI would pass-through));

Video convert: OFF (If you have a mix of HDMI and Component source you would need to set it to ON if you want to output all to HDMI).

Turning Video convert to off also disables the Picture Adjust settings.

I've been adjusting the settings on my 6006 recently and somehow the volume level for my cable box is really low. When I switch to another input, like internet radio the volume is much louder at the same level (I usually have to turn down the volume from the setting I had it turned up for the cable box).

Is there a way to fix this? Would it be a source issue? Last night I had the cable box volume level about 28 just to hear it at a decent level, but when I switched to the internet radio, I had to turn it down to 40 or so!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the SR5006 and am having problems with accessing tracks through my Rhapsody library. I can select the album or artist just fine but it can't actually list the available tracks. Choosing radio stations is fine. Is anyone else having this problem? Thanks in advance for replies.

Can my marantz sr 8001 decode hd audio? I heard that even if the reciever does not say dts master or Dolby hd that the core codec would still allow the lossless to be heard. I remember hearing that the listing of hd audio decoding receivers was a scam and that the core codec is all that is needed. Is this true?

set your blu ray player to lpcm and it will decode the loss less for the receiver your receiver will say multi channel but it will be loss less

Im officially a Marantz owner now. Due to some HDMI issues with a brand new Onkyo 616, I decided to step up and buy a Marantz SR-5006. It fits all my needs, sounds great and looks very sexy.

I definitely like it better than the Onkyo. Onkyo might have more bells and whistles when it comes to Apps and what not, but I dont need that stuff. I have noticed better sound at higher volumes.

picked up a SR6006 last week during clearouts for the new line. Year after year i had a reason not to pull the trigger, this year, i did not! Setting it up was easier than some previous AVR's (inputs aren't assignable) and the GUI is far superior to anything i've used before. I've read complaints on it, but i have no idea what those people are comparing it to.

Doesn't look to be a ton of traffic in the thread here but i'm subscribing anyway.

Hello Everyone,

I just purchased the Marantz SR6006 through Amazon before they sold out. I was a little skeptical about the improvements over my yamaha 667, but I've read so many great reviews and I had to try it out. Ohhhh wow!!!!! This receiver is the real deal. Its so musical and I am hearing things I haven't heard before with my blurays on my old receiver. Its such a musical receiver! It complements my energy RC speakers very well because they have the same warm, laid-back, precise and crisp sonic signature.

The only complaint I have right now is that the remote isn't working correctly. I cannot access the menu option no matter how hard I try. I tried pressing the "amp" button but nothing happens. I will have to call their support line tomorrow to figure out what's wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Resetting the receiver? And how would I Reset the receiver?

I am just so glad I bought this receiver before it sold out. I don't want to return it due to a faulty remote.

Thanks

Are you hitting the 'amp menu' button? Thats the one you want, between the volume and source rockers... Just want to be sure
