. As for my thoughts of the movie, it was great, but I need to see it again. I will hold off any spoiler filled discussion for a couple of days, as I figure more people will be able to participate then. I will say the seeing the

[Show spoiler]Batpod go off the ramp and seeing it slow down with the spinning wheels

was very cool. I wish I saw it in IMAX, but that will happen soon!!!!!!

At (0:26), that line reading is so terrible, and that is just a tiny sample of what the rest of her performance is like. I've even heard some people say "Hathaway was great, she was sneaky and smart" That has nothing to do with the performance, that's how the character was written. I think maybe some people are confused and just like Nolan's interpretation of the character and also were turned on by her look. Hathaway was Razzie worthy.

Im sorry but I disagree I was shocked she did so well with this role, I feel it was a toned down(real life) version of julie newmars catwoman with out all the meowing

After my third viewing, I don't think she did a good or a bad job; the role was just terribly written. I think every scene she is in, I have at least one line that I just cringe when I hear.

Anne was amazing as Catwoman. There was nothing wrong with her. Best Catwoman by Far. I laugh at all the haters who thought she couldn't play Catwoman.

I am not expecting anyone to convince me my thoughts on her performance are 'wrong' or anything. I am trying to figure out why people are praising this performance. So far, I have given my reasons why I feel she was bad, and everyone keeps chiming in that she was "great" "best catwoman ever" "sexy" "smart" "amazing". That still doesn't explain anything.

Given the history of that character you can't do any better than what Hathaway did. If you have gripes about the dialogue...sure I can understand that but by no means does reflect on what she did with the character.

I thought this was a discussion thread. Don't have to reply if you don't want to. I am saying it was a bad performance and explain why, and people just keep saying that she was good. So yeah, please feel free to say why she was so great aside from just saying that she was.

No, I already said it wasn't about the written dialogue but how it was delivered.

She would have been better if the writing didn't keep hammering the character to the ground. She was able to show the hesitance and regret where she was trying to be someone strong. Having it told to the audience over and over

If you know the Catwoman Character (ex comic books) you know how she is a thief and a skimmer that will pretend she's innocent (maid) then when she gets caught (oops) she will show her true colors
the way she set up that guy who used the congressman's cell phone and when the cops came she was pretending she was scared and hurt really showed how good anne was playing her and how well she was written
the way Catwoman is on only one side , her side. she will be good if she needs to or bad (trick batman) she isn't afraid to kill and she is just looking for a clean slate

god she was great as Catwoman, they wrote her great and Anne delivered it perfectly.

Yes I know the character. She is one of my favorite comic book characters. I like the example you gave, but thats more credited to the writing, then to the actual performance.

They were all unwatchable in the 90's. I even thought the first film was awful. The only one I can stand is Batman Returns, and that's only because I love Burton's work, and he clearly had more say on the sequel than he did on the original. But yeah, they're all pretty silly. You now know what it was like to read The Dark Knight Returns, and then see the Burton/Schumacher movies. I've been waiting for someone to do a serious action film in the Batman world for years and years, ever since I read Dark Knight Returns. Nolan delivered.

And not to thread-crap, but again, I thought the new film was incredible.

The only reason you gave was you think she "overacted" - fair enough. In a similar fashion, I think saying the performance was "sexy", "smart" and "amazing" are also perfectly good reasons as to why she was AMAZING in the role. And the majority of the people who have seen the film would agree with me. That her performance of the character was perfect.

But hey, different strokes and all that.

In fact I think Marion's performance was the weakest and I don't think she was the right actor cast. But I've seen loads of others who think she was great, and honestly they don't have to elaborate more than that.

Well I just saw it. It was good. I don't know if I can say it was great yet, I need to see it again. There was a lot to take in.

Catwoman was awesome. Period. Bane, not so much. The voice was extremely ridiculous. He sounded so silly. He also just wasn't very interesting as a character. He was just some guy carrying out the LoS business. And I do agree with many who have mentioned it, the change in his voice from the prologue to this was not a good one. It sounded so clearly overdubbed and separate from the rest of the people on screen, and I STILL had trouble understanding some of his lines. Not an iconic movie villain at all IMO.

John Blake was awesome. The fact that he'll become Nightwing I think is great, although I really have no idea where they will go with that.

The story itself was good but didn't really captivate me like Begins or TDK. The whole ticking time bomb thing was so typical of Hollywood. I actually thought the movie would be better with Bane just raising all kinds of hell without the bomb. He really didnt even do all that much outside of blowing up the football field. Disappointing. I thought he was really going to blow a lot of crap up and make a serious mess of Gotham, but he didn't.

Talia was ok I guess. She felt shoehorned in there. Overall the story felt rushed and disjointed. It seems like the script and screenplay really could have used some streamlining to smooth it out.

Overall it was a good 3rd movie, and we dont get many of those anyway, so good is good enough for me, and I dont want to beat it up too hard after just seeing it once. These are just my initial thoughts on it.

Thank you for liking my example well I'm a big fan of Anne's acting from havoc to love and other drugs and how she made me cry in "one day". Her Oscar nominated performance in "Rachel gets married" was outstanding and how in dark knight rises she pulled the tough but sligh cat thief that you can't trust because Anne showed how quick to change her emotions and how sexy her curves were. Can't think of a better actress to perform Catwoman :P but like I said I'm a Anne fan

Yeah well I was trying to find answers since I seem to be in the minority so I just wanted to know why this was considered great. But to elaborate, yes she overacted at everything she did. Never any subtlety. All I could see while watching her was a 'performance', like self conscious acting, trying too hard to stand out, when everyone else was so real and felt natural.
