I wouldn't say its appalling but the Optimum release is the superior of the two assuming you don't care about extras or having 3 different cuts of the film.

So, do you reckon there's a better edition of T2 in the works? (Might be the wrong thread for this question :-P )
I doubt there's a better release in the works for the foreseeable future but as said before, try and get your hands on the original Optimum release. You miss out on the extras and multiple cuts of the film, but the transfer is far superior.

About the code for SEE on T2 - the code is not on the nordic version (first release - don't knw about the second re-release) but everyone now it's the code for Judgment day 29th of August 1997 written the english date-way.

It's been that since this version started to came up on the dvd format.

And i think it will continiue that way is there is a superior format released after BD.

I think the original OOP Optimum release is pretty close to the praised Japanese release, you could try tracking it down? The used prices on Amazon are pretty good (£5.19).
Throw the Skynet disc in with it for the extras, best of both worlds.

I think I'll do just that

The difference between the two T2 blus is no where near as big as the Predator blus. I'm happy with my Skynet edition.

OK. So it's just Amazon that's slow at updating? Shame. Another month's wait... :-/

I would also like to know. The Theatrical Cut? Seems like the Skynet back cover has been uploaded on the original release entry page, which at first, I didn't notice the "Skynet edition logo".

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Termin...-Blu-ray/2046/

Edit:

Although the runtime suggests 153 mins which is the Special Edition Cut.

The Optimum UK Blu-ray is the Special Edition only. I'll stick with the Skynet for the theatrical cut, as well as having a proper Cameron-approved sound mix. All the Optimum/Kino/StudioCanal releases are blighted with StudioCanal's echoey-as-**** remix.

Appalling? I think not. There has been a mild application of DNR, no doubt, but let's not kid ourselves that the underlying transfer (circa 2003, common to all HD releases) is perfect, with its baked-in edge enhancement and whatnot. The Skynet is just that little bit worse off than the others, but I'll take that hit to get the authentic 5.1 EX sound mix.
