I currently have a Duracell 2gb flash drive but the part that sticks into the USB is loose so it no longer works anymore.
Looking to buy another one. What's the best brand for one? Something not too expensive and won't break easily. |

I like the Kingston ones with the "swivel" cases that protect the USB connector; I think they are well-made and durable flash drives.
Ones like these (not sure what the difference is between these two models) http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digit...ds=flash+drive http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Hi-sp...ds=flash+drive

Keep in mind that my experiences are anecdotal and may not be representative of the product(s) in general.
My lone experience with SanDisk was an unfavourable one. Bought a Cruzer a few years back. Had no interest in their pre-installed software, so I formatted it. Result: neither my home or work PCs could detect it, so I downloaded the software from their website, re-installed it, then returned the drive for a refund. My track record with Kingston was pretty good for a while. All of my Taiwanese-made DataTraveler I drives work without a hitch, but the one manufactured in mainland China died after a handful of uses; after this unfortunate experience, I switched to hp v125w (pictured below; manufactured in S. Korea) and really happy with the switch.

I've not had any issues with either the SanDisk or Kingston sticks! Never tried the PNY ones, nor the HP.

I have sandisk and have never had any issues as well. Been formatted and changed file systems as well. Have a 1GB and 2GB. In fact, I have never had any issues with any sandisk or kingston brands ever. Going back at least 7 years.

Okay. Time for another flash drive. Since I keep losing mine. I bought one of those links you suggested and it wouldn't connect to an older laptop with Windows Vista. I would like to transfer files from my laptop to a friend's older one so something that doesn't need to install anything would be great.

I recommend Sandisk. I have many of those flash drives and never had any issues with one failing.

I have a 64GB USB3 Sandisk that for whatever reason doesn't work in USB 3 mode on my desktop (NEC chip USB3 card). Works properly in my laptop though.

after being in the industry and using them for at least 14 years (maybe longer can't remember ... curse of old age
Sandisk PNY Kingston Adata all had really good luck with. had multiple of each and never a failure, just upgraded or lost over time. had a tone of some of the more "no-name" brands and those were usually fine, just lower read/write speeds (although surprisingly corsair was the worst for read/write speeds) |

I use Sandisk and have been able to find good deals through Costco. I tried Rocketfish in the past and would not recommend them. For whatever reason they kept losing my information. So I made the switch the next time Sandisk went on sale.
Do you really have something to say or are you just in love with the sound of your keyboard?
