So if I buy a 16GB PS3 I can't put in a 160 GB HDD into the slimmer one?

If the 16GB is not upgradeable it would have to be hands down the most useless model ever conceived. I can't see them doing it not upgradeable... ??

When I first saw it I thought it'd be a great model for buying and upgrading.

It would be a disservice to not have an upgradeable hard drive.

Even the 4GB Xbox 360 can still have an internal storage upgrade.

Having a PS3 with 16GB internal storage, with still having the option to put in a physical hard disk will allow for more storage flexibility out of the box, for those who would want better selection on their terms for hard drive space on their unit. That and they would not have a hard disk left over from the unit after making the upgrade.

Does anyone who has upgraded their PS3 hard drive not find a new use right away for the old hard drive?
PS3 CECHE01 MG (Hardware), 60GB Hard Drive

Hopes for future PS3 updates: Improved support for divx/xvid/mp4 file playback. No more "Unsupported Data" and "8002880C" & "800288BF" errors for perfectly good files-- VLC Media Player for the PS3!

I'm thinking about switching back to an xbox slim because of the following 10 reasons.

1. The HDD is SO easy to remove you don't have to unscrew 5 screws like the ps3.

2. Touch power button....a feature that sony removed.

3. The plastic on xbox slim is much more solid feeling than the flimsy ps3 slim.

4. I still have an old friend on my account when I had my 360 fat.

5. You can play music while playing almost any game online.

6. Cross game chat.

7. Wireless N......Sony is just cheap and outdated when it comes the this.

8. You can change your gamertag......Psn your stuck with your online name.

9. The 360 slim is sexy.......Excluding the fat ps3's the slims are not easy on the eyes.

10. My new ps3 media remote (the newest version just feels cheap) bends so easy and makes cheap plastic noises every time I press a button.

But 60 bucks a year for gold is the only problem I have.......I would be really worried if it ever went up higher......it used to be 50 bucks.

If you actually pay $60 a year that is a YOU problem.

Year subscription cards go on sale online all the time for $40 or less and even occasionally lower than $30

I like free That much more money to apply towards games and other things. I probably spent $150 on live back in the day, pretty much was the only option for the first year the 360 came out. I'm glad there is a much better option in the PS3. PS+ is great on discounts and free games as well but not needed to still get online.

Well according to Caleb the 360 slim is an unstoppable beast. Why don't you get one of those?

I'm ready to catch the announcement. Mine literally just died yesterday and my borderlands 2 came in today. Either way I have to wait, but for a cheaper PS3 in 10 days?

Just revealed at TGS. White one looks nice.

Edit: Of course I doubt we see the white one here in the US. Also they say 250/500GB hard drives.

Edit again: Weird, it appears Europe/PAL are the only ones getting the small flash memory unit.

250Gb 229euros, 500gb 299euros.

Imo expect a $199 250gb unit in US

Possibly SSD drives (doubt it given price)

1/2 weight of original unit, very small it seems
