Japan Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operations OMega Thread [Free Game][Translation Guide]

MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM BATTLE OPERATIONS

I. Introduction
The Year is 0079 of the Universal Century Timeline (UC Time line starts around 2045AD).
Zeon Zum Deikun Declares Side 3 (Side = Space Colony) Independence from the Earth Federation forming the Zeon Republic in UC 0058,
Earth Federation Responds with diplomatic and economic pressure.
In 0068 Zeon Zum Deikun is killed, Degwin Sodo Zabi declares himself the new leader of Zeon and turns Zeon from a Republic to a Principality.
Degwin Sodo Zabi Installs his family members in top military positions
Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi, Rear Admiral Kycilia Zabi, Captain Garma Zabi, and Gihren Zabi (who later becomes head of state /dictator)

On January 3 U.C. 0079 the One year war started between the principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation, during the first week of combat the casualties were at 3 billion people - 6 billion dead (conflicting sources), deaths were caused by Chemical and Nuclear warfare, Zeon also commits Operation British where they dropped a space colony directly onto Australia directly hitting Sydney Wiping out 16% of the continent and leaving a 300 mile crater.

After these events Federation and Zeon sign the Antarctic Treaty prohibiting Nuclear, Chemical, Biological, Dropping Space Colonies, and Dropping Large Asteroids, also guaranteed fair treatment of POW's, and respect and Recognize Neutral Nations (Side 6)

While the exact death toll was not sure it was given that half of all humanity had been wiped out.

In response to the overwhelming forces of Zeon, Federation Rolls out Project V (Victory), developing extremely advanced mobile suits, (RX-75 Guntank, RX-77 Guncannon and RX-78 Gundam, and a new warship carrier designed to deploy mobilesuits, the Pegasus-class assault carrier named White Base.)

On September 18, U.C.0079, Project V is discovered by Zeon Forces Lead by Char (Red Comet), who kills many of the technicians of Project V and the entire Senior Staff of White Base, Bright Noa takes command of White Base and leads it out of Side 7 assisted by civilians of Side 7 recovery of 1 gundam, 1 gun cannon and 1 gun tank and destroying all other materials the civilians are deputized and become unofficial military making white base there new home.

White Base makes its way to Earth causing major disruptions in the Zeon Lines, upon descending to Earth White base is thrown off course by Char and arrives in Zeon Held territory.

Federation Forces use this, as Zeon Forces concentrate large forces to bringing down the White Base, (Zeon Forces dub the white base Trojan Horse) as it performs massive disruptions along Zeon Lines. Federation Forces begin massive creation of new mass produced mobile suits called GM's and use the disruption in zeon lines to there advantage.

General Ravil of the Federation Forces Launches Operation Odessa with the assistance of white base and wipes one of the major Zeon bases off the map, Zeon Commander attempts to use a nuclear missile against the federation forces but the Gundam destroys the nuclear missile.

As the federation begins to create there own mobile suit forces, and starts to flex its superior manufacturing capabilities war continues to wage on.

In this game you play in a team of 6 going against another team of 6, deploying in your own mobile suit will you fight for the Federation or Zeon?

In the following section I will try my best to describe each function of the game. (hopefully)

II. Main Menu

*At this time I would like to explain the play system, (this is to the best of my knowledge)
You start with 3 free plays, every time you play a online game a free play is subtracted from
your free plays, under certain conditions, a stored play can be added to the stored plays, you
can store 99 stored plays, stored plays don't get used until you run out of free plays.

Im not quite sure what criteria the game uses to decide you deserve a stored play, I assumed it
was on victory but that doesn't seem always the case.

Regardless free plays are regenerated every couple of hours so no worries.

On a map there are several spawn points by default none are taken and must be taken by infantry, should you die you have the option of re spawning at any spawn point held by your team or the main base, should you die as a infantry and your mobile is still kicking you have the option to spawn next to your mobile suit.

Teammates are identified by numbers pressing L3 will show you the status of team mates, how much armor they have and identify number to name.

Capturing a point increases your teams score, destroying a enemy mobile suit also increases your teams score by the worth of the mobile suit, you can also sneak into the enemy's base and set up a bomb on the enemy headquarters destroying it, im not sure the effect it causes but take note the enemy will be informed about the bomb and will be given a time limit to remove the bomb. To set up the bomb you must get near the enemy base jump out of your suit and with your infantry member set up the explosives... note this is a enemy spawn point so don't expect the enemy will just let you waltz in. Also killing enemy pilots scores you 50 points.

Here is a view of the spawn menu

Note on your first spawn you do not see this, the first box controls where you spawn (Main Base, MS, Spawn Point A, Spawn Point B, Spawn Point C etc, the next box says spawn me as infantry, the next box says spawn me as a mobile suit. You can spawn as a infantry member faster and request your mobile suit when its ready or you can wait additional time for your mobile suit.

Outline with explanation of various game concepts.

A. Picture of your mobile suit
B. Numeric amount of hitpoints for your mobilesuit.
C. Bar represents visual aid for how many hitpoints you have.
D. Status and health of your headquarters.
E. Your Teams Score
F. Status and health of your enemies headquarters.
G. Current Score of enemy Team
H. Your Number in your team, teams are divided by 6 and are given a number, in this case im number 3.
I. This is your radar
J. This icon tells me that is where the enemy hq is, a blue version means that is where my headquarters.
K. This is a spawn point, its red color tells me the enemy has taken it, white is neutral, and blue is currently held by you.
L. Current HP for your head. (Radar/Main Camera) When this bar is empty the main camera and radar are disabled.
M. Current HP for your legs. (Damaged legs means your dashes cause you to stagger, you lose your balance on falls etc.)
N. Current selected weapon.

III. Playing the actual game.

*Note Correction the box that says host does something else, once you hit this box you will get a choice of two boxes one box will access the lobby system and the other will host.* (1st box lobby system 2nd box host)

*sorry for the blurness*
I have a replacement for this picture just haven't uploaded it yet.

Press the button I marked as ready up to ready up, note if you don't have any plays
or stored plays left you will be unable to ready up, please make sure you have free plays
before you get this screen.

Once all players are ready-ed up the game should start.

A. The players name
B. The players mobile suit
C. The players level
D. The players mobile suits level
E. This by a player shows they are ready.
F. This by a player shows they have not yet readied up.

IV.Controls for the game are as follows.

Mobile suit Controls

(to see a bigger versions)

L2 Hard Press - Causes mobile suit to drop to one knee (crouch) note you can not move while crouched.
-L2 while Crouched - Causes mobile suit to lay down (prone) while doing this mobile suits Attack and defense are increased turning ability reduced.
-Circle while Crouched - Exits Mobile suit
L1 Hold Leap / Thrust - Causes mobile suit to activate thrusters to perform a long range jump aerial leap or to fly over something Note this drains the thrusters hard. Note the longer you hold the more of a leap that is performed too long and the jets will activate themselves.
R1 - Shoots Currently Selected Weapon
R2 - Changes Currently Equipped Weapons
-R2 Hold - Shows weapon wheel
Left (dpad) - Access the Signal System allowing you to signal your allies...
Right (dpad) - Access the Text Chat system.
Up (dpad) - Opens / Closes Hint for Chat/signal System
Down (dpad) - Opens / Closes Hint for Chat/signal System
L3 - Checks Ally Status (displays all team mates names and current hp and mobile suit being used.
R3 - Sniper System (While all mobile suits can use this / Infantry, Sniper and arty units can further zoom this with the left analog stick.
Triangle - Ram Charge Attack (activates thrusters to full charge and rams a enemy mobile suit, if it connects can stun, if it misses your stunned, can be used to counter a meele if this connects it will perform a suflex.) *Thanks MysteryRaven from gamefaqs.com*
Square - Reloads Currently equipped weapon.
Circle - This button is context button, it can exit your mobile suit, take cover etc etc. (note cover is where the game decides cover is, most things are not cover)
X - Activates thrusters to either go fast in a single direction, can be used to dodge enemy attacks, get behind enemies, or to close the distance... note it will take your mobile suit a few seconds to fully slow down so you will be vulnerable as your mobile suit recovers...

Take note based on what weapons are equipped on your mobile suit will determine what weapons you have, some mobile suits are so specialized that they don't have means of existing outside there specialized combat parameters, though some mobile suits might have multiple weapons designed to perform multiple roles...

Infantry Controls
*Most of the controls are the same so im going to skip most of them*

L1 - Performs a jump
L1 Hold - Performs a jump and then activates the jump pack.
Double tap L1 - While your jump packing this will activate the afterburner and make you go faster in whatever direction you were going.
Circle - Multi use button based on context its used. (can capture a spawn point, can enter a vehicle, jump in a mobile suit, ride on someone else mobile suit, set up explosives etc)
Double tap x - Performs a aerial flip.

Unlike Mobile suits all infantry are equipped with the same weapon systems.
1x Assault Rifle - Single Fire or automatic
1x Rocket Launcher - This weapon is not effective weapon against mobile suits.
1x Flash Bomb -Flash Grenade meant for making a quick retreat / pissing off enemy mobile suits.
1x Repair Tool - This weapon doesn't have ammo it uses energy that recharges automatically.

-Explanation of Repair Tool
Mobile suits have 3 hp bars
The first one covers the actual hitpoints of the mobile suit if it hits 0 it explodes
The second one covers the hitspoints of the head of the mobile suit if it hits 0 your main camera and sensor package and radar will be disabled.
Should This happen your backup camera will activate, the backup has a lower resolution and is filled with static, there is no backup to the radar.
The third one covers your legs, the more damage they take the more likely you will damage yourself from using your thrusters or braking, if there hit points reach 0 your mobile suit legs will be unable to handle decelerations from using thrusters or from falling and your mobile suit will collapse on all uses of rapid deceleration, falling etc.
This will cause you to be stunned.

The repair tool can repair all 3 hp bars thankfully and recover lost systems. While the repair tool is equipped press and hold R1 to repair your mobile suit, note you can repair friendly mobile suits as well with the repair tool. (Allys usually appreciate this, and sometimes its makes sense to stop and help repair your heavy hitting mobile suits)

Top left is your ms's Hitpoints if it hits 0 you will die.
Bottom right above your gun is your Head and Legs status bar.

Vehicle Controls are very similar to mobilesuits, except pressing circle exits automatically instead of crouching first
Vehicles are Map Specific they can contain - Hover Bikes, to Zeon Tanks.

VII. Now for some customization.

First the starting mobilesuits,
GM

Has one slot where you choose the weapon, (starts with 100mm machine gun)
One vulcan
One beam saber

Zaku II

Has one slot where you choose the weapon, (start with 120mm machine gun)
One Grenade
One Heat Hawk

(On the Zaku II Picture I have added letters to functions while reading the list below match up to the proper letter on the picture)
A. Mobile suits without green letters or percentages are unlocked and ready to use mobile suits.
B. This mobile suit with its green letters next to it means its unlocked but I need to pay a one time fee to use it. (points)
C. This mobile with its percentage shows this suit is not yet unlocked and needs further development.
D. Mobile suits name
E. Level of the mobile suit
F. Cost, what it will cost your team should it be destroyed.
G. Some extra equipment will either use this or the bars below it, if your suit can't afford it you can use the equipment.
H. Some extra equipment will either use this or the bars below it, if your suit can't afford it you can use the equipment.
I. Some extra equipment will either use this or the bars above it, if your suit can't afford it you can use the equipment.
J. Preview of your mobile suit
J. (apparently I put 2 j's in the picture) This other J Represents the area displaying the raw stats of the mobile suit.
As you probably guessed HP is hit points the other ones I do not know, but higher should be better.

Each Mobile suit usually only has one slot that lets you choose its weapons, most mobile suits have prebuilt in equipment that cant be changed.
Though on the one slot where it lets you choose your weapon not all mobile suits have the capability of using all weapons, GM G cannot use most of the GMs weapons and most of the GM G's weapons are too massive to be used by the GM... (the 380mm missile launcher)

Pressing x on a mobile suit brings up a few boxes the first box lets you change out the weapons, and the next box lets you equip special equipment to the mobilesuit.
The special equipment can raise the basic stats of a mobile suit even increase its hit-points.

I plan to add a screenshot showing this at a later time.

As you kick butt or get your butt kicked you will unlock new weapons and mobile suits, these are done quite randomly after the end of a match the game will automatically pick from 3-5 things to develop, they might be weapons, equipment, or mobile suits, or something completely random.

As I said before these is also parts customization this is a sample of a part.

Take note below its description 4 0 0....
This is the cost on a mobile suit to use this part, (4 whatevers) if a mobile suit doesn't have the capacity it will be unable to equip the part.

Im attempting to find someone who can translate mobilesuit stats with that, ill be able to write a more detailed guide on how equipment works, right now I see stats go up but I don't know what they are.

VIII. Now onto Development.

Development lets you see stuff you are working on unlocking, (parts and ms that have percentages by there names)

As parts develop the percentage will increase once it hits 100% you gain the part, you still need to pay with points to unlock the part for use.
You can either do that when you gain the part or later on the development screen.

IX. Mobile Suit Types

There are 3 types of mobile suits in this game you will notice a colored box next to the cost this is the mobile suit type.
Red = CQC / Fast
Yellow = Arty / Long Range
Blue = Normal

While Yellow has no normal cqc attacks, Red has quick recharge on cqc, blue has average recharge on cqc moves.
Beware Red Mobile Suits are fast recharge alot of weapons faster then blues but sacrifice armor and survivability.
Blue suits tend to have average stats with reasonable protection.
Yellow mobile suits zoom functionality is increased and can zoom further then normal mobile suits, they also are usually equipped with long range weapons.

Here is a Zeon Yellow Mobile Suit (Special Edition)

This one is a monster but has no cqc ability what so ever, (zeon)
Has a choice first weapon (standard weapon), arty cannon, and 2x Big guns which are side mounted on its torso (kinda like cannons)

Good offensive capability's but at close range it can't compete in cqc, it can use a triangle berserk attack but if this misses your in real trouble.. its better to stay out of cqc.

Note this unit costs 250 points against your team should it be destroyed (2.5 zakus), while it does have much much more armor expect enemy pilots to go full force against you, your worth more points and they know it.

(remember to repair but don't do it in front of the enemy there is no honor amongst enemies.)

(note) Pilots are worth 50 points so if your going to lose your mobile suit you can ditch and try to make a run for it to save your team the 50 points, pilots are very very small and hard to see so sometimes you can take advantage of a chaotic battlefield.

This is a standard yellow federation model.

Good news is this is a yellow at the cheap 100 the same as a zaku or gm's cost if lost.

Now for the big guns..

This is the GunCannon SLR (Special Edition)

Its equipped with a Federation Sniper Beam Rifle, SLR Missiles (like big gun but top mounted), and a hand grenade.

Recently Ive unlocked a new yellow Zeon Unit (dedicated Sniper)

Beam Sniper Rifle
Vulcan Gun

(I think if a mobile suit has a enlarged backpack its a heavy sniper unit.)

XII. Version Change Log
In this version of the guide I added a new chapter mobile suit limitations, and did some simple corrections and spell check.
Guide is now at 1.01

Update In this version of the guide I have rewritten the introduction to explain some of the history of gundam and to get a idea about the different sides I also expended the mobile suit limitations section to better translations of what this game uses. Enlarged some screenshots added additional controls, Added new section Weapon stats.
Guide is now at 1.02

Hopes for 1.03 Better organization rewrite some sections to raise quality, and standardization of screenshots, and upload of some new less fuzzy pictures.

Update In this version of the guide I have rewritten several sections to be more coherent Removed unnecessary pictures, standardized many of the images, rewrote the control section To give detailed descriptions of each button and its use. Rewrote Infantry description and merged it with Infantry Controls. Guide is now at 1.03

Update In this version of the guide I have standardized most of the remaining images, adding more images back, and cleaned up some errors on the weapon stat pages, *I added a extra m by accident* Added vehicle subsection after infantry subsection. Weew almost ready to call this thing done. Guide is now at 1.04

Update added 3 new sections, changed out controls with a more complete picture, adding more screenies, added a screenie with explanation that explains the main gui of the game. Guide is now at 1.05

Plans for version 1.06 Change out blury picture, add translation to explain how to send requests to join a game. Thanks Jenova502 for suggesting this, Mystery Raven also made some suggestions im going to implement and some corrections on the suflex move. When I get to revising the next version which will be soonish, I need to take a brand new screenshot for this next release, and I need to revise some notes before moving forward.

Update changed out the blurry lobby screen with a less blurry lobby screen and translated the menu texts. Added more special thanks, corrected a mistake on the triangle button, apparently the suflex move was a counter.... that correction has been made and thanks MysteryRaven for pointing it out. Noticed inconcitencies between blu-ray.com and hongfire guides in this release Ive standardized them. Guide is now at 1.06
Which Means....

I couldn't help myself.

Beware Master Lupin videos are made before I made a translation guide and he was doing this all blindly cold turkey like me. They may contain bad language cursing etc, Unnecessary happiness.

Um ill update this section if I find anything worth while, the only reviews I could find were very dated generally before the new maps were done.

This game isn't really all that complicated, the guide is just big because im covering concepts, and things that go beyond simply playing and enjoying.

Its kinda like a strategy guide covering multiple facets if there's something bothering anyone please let me know, if you have a question let me know.

I assure you I wrote this guide to help so that anyone could pick up this game and enjoy it like I have. Its taken me weeks to write this guide so I hope it helps someone...

Im still preparing the omega thread section that should be done in a few hours as I collect resources.

I figured the translation guide should come first...
