Yes...I almost missed it as it wasn't advertised much amongst all the Olympic trailers.
I thought they got the 3D separation spot on. The 3D had a nice depth and really made you feel in the middle of the ceremony. The continual swapping to 2D cameras and 2D footage spoiled it a bit, but you can't have everything I guess and overall I was impressed. Much better than the 3D seen during Wimbledon. Even though I'm not a big Olympics fan, I'll be tuning into the 11pm 3D highlights for at least the first few nights. Gae |

Agree totally on the commentary. There were some beautiful cinematic moments with great sights and sounds - and they had those two guys talking over it with mostly redundant statements.

How does it look in 3D so far? Here in New York, the Olympics in 3D will not start broadcasting on channel 1300 until tomorrow.
![]() That must mean they did not consider the opening night ceremonies to have any importance.

The intro where the Queen jumps out of the plane with 007 was funny. Along with Mr. Bean with that one note on the piano. Otherwise, I don't get to see it in 3D, but would really like to have a compilation on Blu Ray 3D one of these days.

Well we're I am, Comcast isn't putting the 3D channel on. We couldn't find it and so my husband called them. It's not available in our area. WTF?!
The ceremony was freakin' awesome and I'm sure will look fantastic in 3D.

Checking out the Uverse feed now. When 3D mode is off, the side-by-side picture is crystal clear, but when you turn on 3D, the PQ drops substantially. Wonder if I Just need to adjust my TV or something. Weird. My blu-rays on my ps3 input always look fine. Hmmm...

Gotta say, had the opening ceremony up on the PJ yesterday and it look fantastic, would love more resolution but with SBS that's tricky, still, good stuff it made it feel like being there.

I'm a brit and i'd have to agree that Beijing had more 'WOW!' to the ceremony but we did a pretty good job compared to some expectations of complete failure. I think the closing with the lighting of the couldron was good. Rowan Atkinson as Bean was funny. Didn't care for the 60s to 90s music set up to the reveal of internet man. Was crap as hell. The NHS piece was a little baffling too. Trying to shoehorn in Nightingale or night nurses and doctors from way back when amongst childhood memories of the child snatched, Voldermort and Mary Poppins. Was a bit lacklustre.
Still, overall a very respectably done ceremony and not the worst ever. Just not as great as Beijing was but to be expected during a recession etc. Highlight had to be Bond and the Queen. Just to let you guys know, i think this might be the first olympic filmed in super hi-vision. At least, our local IMAX claims to be showing events in the native resolution somehow
