Due to space limitations that's the only place that I can put them. I believe thats the way most cineplexes array there subwoofers. The SVS subs are in each corner and will be joined together by a Y-connector to Sub1 on the back of the AVR. The two BIC America subs sit closer to the center of the wall and will be joined together by a Y-connector to Sub2 on the back of the AVR.

I know your waiting for your wires to come in, but when they do, if you have time, run audyessy with all four subs, and then try it again with just the SVS's to see if you hear/feel a difference. The Sub EQ is going to bring the SVS's down to the level of the Bic's to make everything equal. I am just wondering if the SVS's will shine better by themselves or if the BIC's will make everything better with the SVS's. I really look forward to reading about it. Main Theater Setup:

when i had an 805, yes, it did get hot and very hot for extended use. of course, i was lucky and had mine setting out in the open on all sides to air and was placed on a shelf just a couple inches off the floor.
but it was hot, no question about that. of course, it never failed me in any way! of course that was mine.

I have the 805 also and mine doesn't get hot either. Everybody runs their gear differently, but one guys hot is another guys warm. Even if it does run hot, does the thing fail? if not I wouldn't worry about it myself. I wonder if most people having heat issues have it inside a cabinet? Mine is on a stand on the bottom and I have zero heat issues..

My TX-NR3007 gets warm but i've never had a crazy excessive heat problem. I have a little fan on top of it and every now and then I turn it on just to make sure the receiver doesn't get too hot, but I've never had a problem. it's running my front 5 speakers (including 2 infinity towers and a pretty beefy def tech center).
Not on the rug, man...

some folks can have their receivers in cabinets that are enclosed and have no problems, ever. some have theirs sitting completely out in the open and it's hot to the touch. it just depends, it's not necessarily the same for everyone. whatever the case, please keep us posted.

Notice where I placed my four subwoofers. Any tips or suggestions before I run the 3009's full Audyssey calibration?

After the calibration, I noticed that Audyssey set the crossover on all my speakers to 40Hz. Should I change them to 80Hz? How do you manually change stuff after the calibration? Also Audyssey set the levels of my front subs at +1.5db and the rear subs at -10.5. WTF!?!? Should I lower the rear subs level? Or do the calibration all over again? After the calibration, I watched some tv shows, music videos, a couple of music concerts and part of the The Bourne Ultimatum flick. Strangely, it all sounded great! With those weird calculations that Audyssey came up with, I would have thought otherwise.

your back sub is probably set to high so the receiver lowered the gain . and your x overs are fine you can adjust in set up menu if you want .

At the screen that shows the sub db level turn of all but one sub at a time. With each individual sub turn up or down the sub gain on the sub amp until the screen shows 75db (as noted by sandman922 there is considerable lag time so wait for it settle) once complete with the first sub turn it off and repeat process for each sub individually. Once all subs are at 75db each turn them all on and continue with Audussey calibration. Don't worry about the combined db reading with multiple subs as it will be more than 75db, for example with my two subs each set at 75db the combined is 81db. I may be wrong as I am no expert but this works well for me. || AVR - Onkyo TX-NR1009 || Amps - Emotiva XPA-2 / Emotiva LPA-1 || TV - Misubishi WD60737 || BD Player - Sony BDP-S790 || CD Player - Denon DCM-290 || Gaming - Modified PS3 Fat || Gaming - Modified Wii || Main L&R - Polk Audio Monitor 70II || Center - PolkAudio CS2II || Surround - Polk Audio Monitor 40II || Rear Surround - Polk Audio OWM3 || Front High -Polk Audio OWM3 || Subwoofer - 2 Polk Audio PSW505s || Harmony 1100 Remote ||

If you remember awhile ago I asked how are you going to split them. (1) SVS’s up front being plugged into #1, while the BIC’s are rear and plugged into #2 on the AVR (2) On the left side of the room, having a SVS share with a BIC, and plugged into #1, while the right side is setup the same, and plugged into #2 (3) Or, you can just calibrate your system with just the SVS’s, and then after audyessy is done, add the BIC’s, which is almost like the 2nd option, except you won’t calibrate the BIC’s with audyessy Whichever method you run, it’s going to make a difference with how you setup with audyessy. I like the 3rd option, that way, you are not bringing down the SVS’s levels, but adding to them with the Bic’s Main Theater Setup:
(Panasonic 65" HDTV) (Onkyo 5008) (Onkyo M-282) (PS3 Slim 250gb)(XBOX360 4GB) (Monitor Audio - RX2's - (4)RXFX - RX CENTER) (SVS - (2)PB12 Plus) (Harmony 1100) (Monster HDP-2400) Bedroom Setup: (Samsung LN40B610) (Onkyo 805) (Sony BDP-S570)(Monster HDP-1800) (Klipsch - F2's - C2 - Quintet III's) (Personal built 10" Sub) (Harmony 880) Last edited by HAMP; 08-04-2012 at 05:23 PM. |
