Default Recommendations for 3D receiver on a budget?

First of all, my budget is around $250.00 -- less would be preferable if that's even possible. The things I need from the receiver are:

- 3D Ready
- Power my existing surround sound speakers (don't need lots of power since I don't ever blast them)
- Ethernet port preferred
- At least 5.1 surround

So far I found a refurbished Onkyo HT-RC360 for about $250.00 + shipping on a site called Accessories4Less -- apparently others here on Blu-ray.com have ordered from them before. Link to the item on Accessories4Less site. Link to the same item on Fry's Web-site. If there's something less expensive that has what I'm looking for -- brand doesn't matter -- please direct me to it. Thanks.

Based on your price limit and AVR specs, go with the Onkyo from A4L. They're a great e-tailer, and there's no real reason to be leery of buying a refurb (if you are). I've done it, and never had a problem. My take on refurbs is that they have been given extra-special attention by QC technicians to assure they are functioning properly, which is more than what a standard unit would receive off the production line.
Genius has its limits, however there is no limit on stupidity.

As an FYI, the HT-RC360 is a TX-SR609 without the THX features. It is an excellent choice. As with any receiver, make sure you have adequate ventilation.

Definitely go for the HT-RC360 - it looks like a great deal, and it shouldn't be a problem that it's refurbished.

Thank you for all of the replies, I really do appreciate them. After the comments here, I'm definitely willing to go refurbished. Just one more thing, there is another Onkyo receiver currently on sale at Frys for $188.00 -- it's the TX-SR313. Here's the link for the item at Frys, and here's the link to the same item at Amazon. Does anyone own this receiver? Would this be significant downgrade from the HT-RC360 -- keep in mind my needs.

- 3D Ready
- Power my existing surround sound speakers (don't need lots of power since I don't ever blast them)
- Ethernet port preferred
- At least 5.1 surround

I did notice no ethernet port, not sure how a firmware update would be delivered if one was necessary unless the USB port on front would allow for that.

After shipping, the HT-RC360 would be about $83.00 more. Any help would gladly be appreciated.

in my bedroom i use the Onkyo TX-NR509. it's network ready, 3D ready with ARC, Audyssey 2EQ, iOS device ready 5 channels internal, 7 channels with external 2 channel amp, zone 2 out, 4 HDMI 1.4a inputs, 4 digital audio inputs, 2 component inputs, 1 universal port input and it's under $200.oo Oh yeah, IT'S BRAND NEW, not RE-anything!

i have it connected to 5 Axiom M2V3 speakers and an Emotiva Ultra Sub 10 and it's amazing. tons of power for the use, great for movies, games and best of all, internet radio streaming and since i have it networked in my house i stream all of my hi-rez audio--will stream up to 96/24 audio from a pc or NAS. also has USB front port for iOS devices or hard drive for audio. i am very happy with it have had no real issues with it and the upgrading is done via ethernet so it's foolproof.

best of luck with whatever you go with. if you've got a budget (and you do) it's a nice unit to go with, tons of features and not a lot of coin!

keep us posted!

Check out the HT-RC360 @ PCRichard.com @$299.98 + free shipping. It is $49 more than you originally wanted to spend, but note that this is a new unit and not a refurb.

As per the 313, I'd avoid it. You can do better. The 509 mentioned above is an excellent alternative.

The 313 is the "new" model which seems to have had some features deleted.

I have the 360 and has mentioned, identical to the 609 sans THX (which I don't care about, power ratings and features are identical). I got my 360 for $250 new and never found that deal again, but the $300 shipped price at PCRichard.com is about the best deal I've seen since. Great receiver, plenty of power and features. Like all Onkyos, gets hot, so make sure there's good ventilation or add a PC fan above.
