Why did Canada stop getting Steelbooks of older movies? Last year there were so many this year nothing!?!? Only new movies being made to steelbook.

I'd ask Warner.

Because Warner Canada no longer exists. They have left the country and no longer are doing any exclusives. Which means no more back titles of Warner movies made into SB like Hang Over or Sherlock Holmes. This also means that future Warner titles might not get a SB treatment in Canada like Dark Knight Rises.

Not sure who you are talking to but Canada's distribution channel is messed up and there are a lot of things happening here that not many people realize or know about. And a lot I can't remember. There is only about 2 studios left, Alliance and E1. They control most of the distribution up here and Alliance has swallowed up most of the other Canadian arms of other studios.
Which is why Warner Canada has stopped SB and moved out of Canada as they longer can be viable here. |

![]() You people talking about Warner leaving Canada are too funny. My editor-in-chief was just talking to the president of Canada's Warner Home Video distribution the other day. They are doing better than ever in Canada. They aren't folding up shop anytime soon. ![]() To answer the OP, I'd say Warner feels they've milked our market enough for the time being as they seem to be focusing on releasing steelbooks in other countries now. Ultimately, it is Warner in the U.S. that has final say on steelbook production anywhere.

Guess you guys need to move to the UK. I think it would be cheaper than importing the 100s that have been released this year

The bolded part is the most important part. I might have overstated that Warner is leaving Canada because I've heard the news a while back and can't remember the details. They might not be leaving the country but they might have stepped off some stuff in Canada.
I've heard we were suppose to have a SB wave from Warner which could be what BB USA got like Sherlock Holmes, Hang Over and Gran Turino but that got cancelled. If that is true and your part is true then that means we are going to be seeing less SB in Canada and might actually see a disappearance of SB waves like we had before from Warner. If US Warner has the final say and not Canada Warner, it means they no longer have interest in supplying the Canadian market with SB. They wouldn't care about the Canadian market like Canada Warner would. Overall though, there are no studios left that do SB for Canada. Only Alliance, Sony and Warner were the people releasing SB in Canada. Fox doesn't do exclusives in NA, Paramount has ignored us and now Warner might be leaving. Soon we might only get new releases and over seas getting the catalog releases like how Play is doing these releases. Quote:
