Default DVD database

Some of the DVD's I have entered are still missing from the database. A few of the titles (star trek enterprise seasons 1 -4) had been entered by someone else but for different editions. I have changed these titles.

Do I need to re-enter all of the missing titles or are you working on recovering them?

Thank you

The mods cannot fix it, but administrators can: iceman & marwin .
Most anticipated release: The Hidden Fortress

Hi iceman,

At some point during the database crash period, I created a thread in the trading section and had received two positive trading points. Neither of these have come back since the crash, is it at all possible to have this restored? I had my trading thread set as part of my signature, though that's also been cleared. If there's additional info I can provide to help restore this information, please let me know.

Thanks!

We will try to recover them (but it might take up to 2 months), so if you want them re-added faster, then please re-added them again manually. Really sorry about that

We plan on setting up a complete copy of the old forum on a different IP, so members can find/access their threads/posts/PMs there. But as it looks we will probably not do a complete forum merge between the old state and the new state, because we aren't really sure of what the end result will be and we risk messing up everything even worse :/

Just FYI we now (shortly after the crash) do daily backups (both mirroring and cumulative) to several geographical locations.

Makes sense, thank you for the update. Do you have a time-frame on when the old forum might be available?

I know exactly how that goes It'll be great to access that forum info, but those things take time to ensure it goes smoothly. Thanks again!

Thanks for that info, I have been wondering what changes have been made after the crash to help avoid the same loss again. Perhaps an announcement on the main page if it hasn't already been made to inform everyone of the news ??

If people were to do things manually, they could just copy each message and paste/post it into the forum as a new message. However, the message would also need to be back dated to the date the message was originally posted. Also, the relevant attachments would need to retrieved from the "old forum".

However, couldn't this be automated a bit by extracting each forum message from the date and time of the move to the new server in April up until the crash? Then, couldn't each extracted message be individually posted back into the forum database but back dating them?

It would be a shame to have messages that only appear in the "archive forum". I don't think newbies will immediately know that the "archive forum" exists and so can be searched for information that they are looking for.
