SW, it's more likely Fox is going to keep out of our reach till Spring '13-- They may have said it wouldn't be an exclusive, but they didn't say when...

That would be nice regarding Avatar 3D in 2012.

Did this do well enough to warrant LucasFilm's continued 3D conversion of the Saga? I hope it did, but I just don't know. You would think that we would have heard something by now.

I want to know as well. I didn't see it in the theaters so I am waiting to see SW 3D when it shows up on 3D BD. I hope the next episode in the saga gets the 3D treatment as well.

I remember reading that Lucas said blu ray 3D sales (to paraphrase) are not viable right now, so it would be a few years before he would consider it", and then I heard this news about Panasonic.
As far as the original trilogy in 3D, Lucas is trying to keep his 1977 thru 83 films updated for today's new audiences, would be one view, the other being he was never satisfied with the originals in some ways, and wanted to go back in and fix what he felt needed fixing. Diehard fans he's not worried about offending obviously when changing things in the original trilogy. His goal is to add some extra touches of paint. I really don't mind the special editions, but would still like to have the originals as well to see how technology has advanced. But this is off topic. |

I wonder if we'll have to wait for the 3D versions of Episodes 1-3 until 2014 after they have all been at the theaters.
Sure The Phantom Menace sucked, but I'd rather see that ending in 3D then most of the stuff that has been released in the 3D format. |

But if II and III are as good as suggested, hopefully the box set 3D will be available by 2014. |

I know you guys will think I'm crazy but I actually liked The Phantom Menace about 100 times more than I liked episodes ii and iii. Its the one prequel that I thought was actually a really good movie. Of course it doesn't compare to the original trilogy but I still liked it. I hope George decides to bring these to 3d blu-ray soon, as far as I know the Panasonic deal must have fallen through because there have been no new updates about it.

The strongest parallax in the world can't give any depth to TPM's terrible story and wooden characters. Not only space politics, but inane space politics! This will always be a pass for me, as will the rest of the prequel trilogy and modified original trilogy.

Those two especially made the movie worth watching for me. Anakin as a kid was a dumb idea but the Qui Gon - Obi Wan team up was pretty sweet

I love all 6 movies but IMO, Phantom Menace is more like the OT than eps 2 & 3.

I very much doubt there will be any home video release of this now, especially since the other theatrical 3D releases have been cancelled.
Maybe after or leading up to Episode 7 they will re release all 6 to build up to the new chapter. My PSN Trophy Card | My Steelbook™ Collection

But with DELAYED in mind, I was at Star Wars Celebration and saw EP II in 3D (5minutes). No reason they needed to delay it as all the key scenes were shown. Money grubbing folk is all. With that in mind, as much as the offical statement said delayed, I can completely aggree with cancelled. I'm suprised since every disney movie since 3d's birth has been 3d. I would have thought that they would want to milk the cash cow. If this bluray does never see the light of day, I will be very happy knowing I saw it in theaters. |
