Default Samsung 60" 3D TV - 7000 series - Good buy?

Best Buy currently has a deal were if I purchase a 60" Samsung Smart TV I can get a free 3D bluray player and 10 pairs of 3D glasses for $1999.00. I am inintersted in the 60" 7000 series. Is this a good deal?

Also, thanks to this site and others I am learning more about plasmas and taking care of them. I have an LCD TV right now which doesn't require as much care. Would it be better to get an LCD TV with 240hz?

This is definitely a good deal if you need the 3D glasses/blu-ray player (the TV on its own can be found for $1600 I believe). The 7000 series has outstanding black levels and PQ. I would only consider an LCD/LED television if it is going to be placed in a particularly bright room, where it would fare better than a plasma.

Best Buy!
2D Quality: amazing deep blacks, crystal clear picture, no blurring during fast motion.
3D Quality: limited cross-talk, bright, clear picture, smooth and no blurring
Design: beautiful barely there bezel, super slim, and ultra light
Light bleeding, you can't notice it if the area is well lit or if you are watching a movie that is naturally bright, but you will notice it if the room is dark and the movie is in a dark scene.
The picture and sound quality is superb.

Since when is light-bleeding an issue in plasma technology?

Hey everyone I bought a 60 inch E7000 Sammy. My very first plasma. I spent almost two hours in Magnolia going back and forth between it and the Pannys. It wont be delivered until next week but can you offer any advice for a first timer on set-up and maintenance/care?

been a plasma boy for years so I've had my ups and downs with them

1. there IS a break in period where the phosphors will wear the quickest so for the first 100-150 hours you have two choices. Crank down the contrast to around 50% and watch mostly full screen stuff for that time period. OR just get some break in slides or break in program online and run that on a continous loop till you hit 100-150 hours (can be left on overnight so your break in is cut considerably shorter

2. I personally wouldn't game on it for at least the period of the breaking, especially games with Static HUDS etc

3. once that break in is done you can calibrate the display.

4. after that, really just enjoy and run the anti-image retention scrolling bars that comes in the menu every after extended gaming or non full screen movie watching to keep any pesky IR away and all's good. that E7000 is supposed to be amazing too

Well congrads on the set. I'm a Pnasonic fan myself and have seen a few ask about the BB deal(s). We have the 2011 Panasonic 55" GT30 and so far nothing but praise. Someone asked about the BB "deal" on the Panny 65" GT50 and i almost fell out considering we got ours under $1500.00. The "deal" for the GT50 65" is $3K!!...yikes. Seeing the Samsung 60" 7000 at $1K less left me shaking my head but this is BB. here's a link to the Plasma Forum over at AVS on this Samsung Calibration and Settings...

Thanks for the link, it's a good starting point. Happen to know any calibration threads for the E series plasmas? This is for the D series.

It's pretty much in the "Plasma Forum" at the top. Sometimes you'll see "Calibration and settings for *** Series" and then you can also see something like..."Offical Talk of *****Series Owners Thread".

Actual Plasma Forum...

The "E Series"....

Also take the advice of wormraper seriously on breaking in plasmas. There are plenty of topics and information on this at the AVS Forum. There's a bit more care in them over LED's out-of-the-box but in the long run very much worth it. Just ignore all the fanboy talk and take the words of the wise, knowing and technies to heart. Again congrads on the new set and your BR collection will be most happy.

I just purchased this TV from Besy Buy yesterday. Unfortunately I have to wait to Friday for delivery. That deal was better than mine. Paid $1999. but without the 3D Blu-ray player & only 2 pairs of glasses. So far, all the tech. reviews I have read have been positive.

But you did get the free 22'' LCD right?

The upgrade in PQ over my LCD is ridiculous. After much reading I decided not to breaking in with slides. I'm running mostly full screen content without network logos for a few weeks and using cnet settings for now. Gaming out of the question for a while.

I agree with you 100% about PQ over LCD Rob. I'm doing the same thing, watching full screen content cable content. Did try out a couple of my favorite Blu-Rays though. I was blown away with the PQ.
As far as the free 22" LCD, the answer is no. Was not offered any deal.
Still, very pleased with my purchase.
