I was SHOCKED that Snow White and the Huntsman wasn't in 3D. Same for Johnny Depp's Dark Shadows and The Dark Knight Rises.

It seems like Hollywood may be at a crossroads as far as 3D is concerned. A 3D commercial release of Avatar could provide a second wind to the 3D home theater market.

AND LET ME SAY THIS:

It's SHAMEFUL that Sammy's Adventure was NEVER released in 3D here in the USA. Someone should get laid off for that misfire.
Yes, Sammy Turtle 3D should be on US Blu 3D at a fair price by now for the 3D it's said to offer, considering the 2D version has appeared here at last.

Nolan's Dark Knight Rises, wasn't in 3D because Nolan didn't like the idea of three dimensions in that final film in the series excluding any spin offs. But yeah, Huntsman should've been in 3D, but it probably would've been a conversion.

Considering Lord of the Rings trilogy was one of the biggest movie trilogies in film history, and with Peter Jackson's filmed 3D The Hobbit 3D due this December 2012, things aren't exactly bleak for 3D on the big scale.

Then for action fans, Paul WS Anderson with the Resident Evil series is said to be delivering an epic 3D movie with Resident Evil Retribution 3D. The Great Gatsby 3D is a movie that will appeal to those who like Drama, Silent Hill 2 3D for horror fans, and a few more big studio 3D computer animation kids movies like The Guardians, Paranorman, Frankenweenie, etc in 3D.

But as far as Blu 3D sales, the stores have failed to help out as most of the time they charge FULL suggested retail, 34.99 and up, guaranteed to let most 3D titles collect dust at those prices, even after months of being available. The best place to get 3D is online at places like amazon and so on.

Hopefully we'll see a big list of 3D movies for 2013 and not put all hope in Avatar 2 3D. Like the box office record breaking AVENGERS 3D sequel on the way. Then there's Captain America 2 3D, etc...

Avatar 3D as a general release will be very good for the 3DTV market, even if it is showing up later than we hoped.
