As was said, many of that stuff comes from the comics. And the comics do need some "real world" stuff to be relatable.

Backdrops and scope? I'll have to disagree.

Yeah, everyone I know say it's the best out of the three, I'm the only one who thinks The Dark Knight is stronger than it in my friendship group.

When I first saw TDK I thought begins was better ... after a few viewing I fell in love with TDK though ... but as of now I think rises is the weakest ... still a day one Bluray purchase ... and maybe ill change my mind one day ... just had too many obvious issues though ... (not that TDK had none)

Yeah, I don't don't remember the Occupy movement's goal to have society year itself apart before destroying it.

Besides, Occupy is mostly hippies. Don't think they'd fit in well with Bane's group.

I agree. But "weakest" is a relative term - any one of these flicks wipes the floor with most entries in the superhero blockbuster club, if for nothing else than ambition alone. It's undeniable that they have aspirations beyond their genre.

I know what they're getting at, though. This is the first movie where the 'niggles' actually bothered me. The previous two are so strong that they transcend their little problems, this final entry has such a grand scale that it loses a little in the execution of its themes and lets a few questionable moments slip through.

this is exactly how i feel and a good interpretation i think for a lot of people who say its "over-rated" and the 3rd best in the series.

the problem is, there are SO many batman fanboys.....over 500 page thread for Batman lol? really to each their own....so, if someone says they didnt think it was that great...you have a gang of people who will defend it like its the greatest movie theyve ever seen... its Batman people...EVERY batman movie is getting 5 star ratings... really? either people have loose rating systems or they just love batman and comic book movies in general...but thats what a good portion of this site likes, so thats what the results will show

but, like you said above, these batman movies, imo, are above and beyond most of the current comic book movies out....still havent seen the avengers though...

i found myself rolling my eyes at a bunch of scenes in this movie, which is why it is the 3rd best imo....shallow story as well....but before everyone jumps all over me....i already said, i didnt think it was bad and it will be part of my collection

FINALLY went to see it (at a true IMAX venue). I went in with low expectations since so many people said it wasn't as good as the first two. Fortunately, TDKR far exceeded those expectations and I thought it was easily the best of the trilogy. It definitely packs an emotional punch. Loved all of the new characters (and I wouldn't mind seeing another sequel or a spinoff with Gordon-Levitt and Hathaway).

Batman Begins 4/5
The Dark Knight 3.5/5
The Dark Knight Rises 5/5

Took in my fifth and final viewing today before home video release, in IMAX, and it's astonishing to me that on fifth viewing, it got better than the last.

I'm actually flabbergasted by it. I fully expected to get antsy with the film considering how many times I've seen it already and how many times I'll see it in the future but again, once Batman appears, the film has me by the balls and never lets go. It gets bleak. It gets emotional. It gets triumphant. It raises the stakes to the appropriate levels. It hits all the right beats to make for not only a satisfying film on it's own, but a stunning conclusion to one of the great cinematic stories/trilogies of all time.

And after this final viewing, I can NOW safely say that Tom Hardy's performance as Bane equals Ledger's Joker, in my eyes. I felt it after the third viewing but wasn't willing to go there but this afternoon's viewing clinched it. Tom Hardy, for me, is easily 1b behind Ledger's Joker in terms of villains in this genre. He's that great in this film. Ownership from frame one. I'm going to be studying his performance, like Ledger's, for years. It's that nuanced. It's that powerful. It's world class.

BEGINS. KNIGHT. RISES. PERFECTION.
"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy".

"Because he's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a DARK KNIGHT."

"Theatricality and deception are powerful agents to the uninitiated. But, we are initiated. Aren't we Bruce? Members of the League of Shadows."
