But I give Heroic Age my Highest Recommendation.
Heroic Age has a $60 MSRP price. When Funimation made the S.A.V.E. Edition release, Rightstuf wanted to get rid of their copies of the original release which has been discontinued so that only the S.A.V.E. Edition remains which is still in print. So before that, Heroic Age cost at least $40 or more.

So with Shiki, it's a newer release and isn't ready to get a price markdown yet like Heroic Age did.

Shiki's only been out for two months. There's a slight difference there. Wait two or three years, and Shiki's price will probably be near $20, too.
Well then how about Yu Yu Hakusho. Each season is about 24 dollars and are newer then shiki (or were released around the same time) and each season has twice the number of each shiki release. (btw i did get shi ki anyway lol)

Btw, has anyone bought and watched Legend of the Legendary heroes yet? I have been llooking up reviews and have been getting mixed signals. seems like the show I would like except i hear it crashes and burns into the second season.

Also, was wondering why each release of madoka magica is 40 bucks for just 5 episodes?

I just got like 300 dollars for my bday so im ready to go on a blu ray binge.

Shiki's price is the same as all of their newer combos that have an LE. Yu Yu Hakusho is a re-release of an older series.

Shiki is a new, first-time BD/DVD release. Yu Yu Hakusho is a decade old, and has been through a few DVD releases already (starting with $20-25 3- or 4-episode singles, if search results from Amazon are accurate).

My copy of Shana Season 1 came today and I took the liberty of pre-cutting down the slip as I always do with these new Funi releases.

You may notice the case is a little bit bigger then the slip itself now but it's the only way I could do it and get an aesthetically pleasing result on the spine. Also the bottom cut ended up a little crooked but it looks alright in person.

I'm tempted to just dump the new Funi DVD sized slips as they're so unwieldy.

It's okay, but Legend is not going to change your life. I love historical fantasy anime and I found it very inconsistent. Some of the characters are annoying and the constant switching between the various plots of the different arcs was not enjoyable. Not to mention the extremely generic fantasy animation and character designs.

What would you recommend? I've been wanting to get into that genre myself, but other than picking up Guin Saga, nothing has really sounded too interesting.

I have had to toss out a couple due to the fact that they were damaged during shipping because the extra space is easy to crush...

I would highly recommend Twelve Kingdoms (I love how all the characters lives intertwine with one another). I also enjoyed Guin Saga but wanted more by the end. As for Legend of Legendary Heroes, I actually really got into the series and ended up enjoying it a lot but I do agree that season 1 is better than season 2.

I have just started watching Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and I had a question about the movies and OVAs. I have never seen the original series and I was wondering if the movies are specific to the original series, or if they fit fine with Brotherhood. Thanks.

Wait, so Funimation are using DVD-sized slipcases for regular blu-ray cases? Who came up with that retarded idea in that case?

So, would you say legend of the legendary heroes is worth the buy for 30 dollars each season? also, what is twelve kingdoms about?

FMA has two movies on blu-ray...which one are u talking about?

Anyway, the first one (Conqueror of Shamballa) is the ending of the old FMA anime series. I think it is a good movie that wrapped up the anime.

The new one (The Sacred Star of Milos) is just like some side story of FMA brotherhood. In my opinion it is not important at all and I feel like it has a very boring storyline. Just like some junky naruto/bleach movies.

Yes on certain releases. It was Funimation's idea so Best Buy would stock it. Funimation was releasing blu-rays in DVD size cases before they changed to DVD size slipcovers.

I would say yes because I paid full price and like I had stated I enjoyed it more than most.

Twelve Kingdoms would take a long time to explain so I would suggest checking out a trailer and here are the blu-ray reviews:

The Twelve Kingdoms, Part 1: Shadow of the Moon, The Sea of Shadow Blu-ray
The Twelve Kingdoms, Part 2: Sea of the Wind, The Shore of the Maze Blu-ray
The Twelve Kingdoms, Part 3: A Great Distance in the Wind, The Sky at Dawn Blu-ray

Thanks, I will just stick to the main series then. The first box of FMA:B is $32 right now, which seems like a good price. Any recommendation on other good series on blu to check out? I am pretty new to anime. I have seen Cowboy Bebop and Trigun (both great) and then some Dragonball.

I like Soul Eater, Yu Yu Hakusho and most of the Ghibli anime movies on blu-rays.

If you don't have to watch the animes on blu-ray, there are a lot of great animes that can watch them online through streaming.
For example: Hikaru no Go, Major, Capeta, Rurouni Kenshin...etc.

Recently, I like a new anime called Sword Art Online.

The problem is the story isn't complete; it's based on a series of light novels, but doesn't finish them. This isn't as bad as it sounds as the story has different arcs that focus on different characters, but you still never get an ending. It ends with basically a recap.
