But, I will take the blame for the misunderstanding, you did mention dual subs in your post. I was thinking you were testing one at a time. If you run each sub at 75dbs, and then turn them both on, there should be an increase anywhere from 3db to 6dbs on your SPL meter for both subs combined. Main Theater Setup:
(Panasonic 65" HDTV) (Onkyo 5008) (Onkyo M-282) (PS3 Slim 250gb)(XBOX360 4GB) (Monitor Audio - RX2's - (4)RXFX - RX CENTER) (SVS - (2)PB12 Plus) (Harmony 1100) (Monster HDP-2400) Bedroom Setup: (Samsung LN40B610) (Onkyo 805) (Sony BDP-S570)(Monster HDP-1800) (Klipsch - F2's - C2 - Quintet III's) (Personal built 10" Sub) (Harmony 880) |

I just picked up my first mirage speakers today from craigslist.(100$)
5 nanosat & 1 nano CC. 2 nanos were defective they sound distorted but no physical damage to them. but the rest of the nanos sound amazing,I'm coming from Klipsch RF83s so I'm used to big sound and the sound coming from these little speakers are awesome. |

I started out with Mirage speakers using the 5 Nanos and Nano sub. They are amazing speakers for their size. |

My first thought is that they were over-driven and have driver damage. Mirage support may be able to help with definite answer, 1-866-428-2122 or connect you to parts dept. |

I agree with what CrazyKat said above. It does sound like the speakers were over driven and the drivers could be damaged. Maybe you could get away with using the 2 bad speakers as side surrounds without noticing the distortion to much.

Might as well move up to the rosewood OMD-28s I'm selling. They're a natural upgrade.

Are you sure you really want to get rid of them? It will be like selling your first car, down the road you would give anything to have it back.

I'm not totally convinced on it, to be honest. They look fabulous, and I know they'd work superbly in the future in a properly big room with the right amplification. But until then, I kind of want something more low maintenance. If no one bites, I'll probably just hold on to them. As for the first car bit...I feel you. Recently got rid of my RX-8 with modded suspension to move into my brother's ten year old M3. No complaints at all, but there are days that I absolutely miss the Mazda... |

You probably will find used Nanos again at a better price thru Craigslist then Prestige speakers especially since they sell for almost twice the price of the Nanos. At Vanns the Prestige is at 199 and the OMD5 Black at 179, and the OMD5 is a much better speaker. I should add that this is only my opinion. I have heard the Prestige, but I have only owned the Nanosat's and OMD5's

Made some small changes in system. Took 15's off of the SubDudes and put Spikes back on 15's. Put SubDudes under C2 center. Went back to no grills. I bought to enjoy look of speakers and they look so much better without grilles. So if they get damaged I will hate myself in the morning.

I take the grills off mine from time to time, but I don't know if I trust myself to keep them off. I'm to clumsy when I clean and dust and it would make me sick if I damaged one. |
