Real Steel looks really good on it's own, I know you said the better the source the better the Darblet works. It must have looked pretty sweet with a really good source like Real Steel.

I have a surplus of hdmi cables, just need to dig through my mess of extra cables to find a suitable on to use. I've got a couple of other things planned that will come first before adding anything to the HT system. When the time comes for more HT upgrades the Darblet and Audyssey Pro are tops on the list.

Anyway glad to read your enjoying the Darblet.

The only problem I am going to have is how to wire the Darblet in to work with all sources including a future 3D BD player. I have the older Yamaha AVR which does not have 3D passthrough. So I either have to buy another AVR, which I do want to do but do not have the funds right now or I'm going to have to get a 3 in 1 HDMI switch. Or I'l wait even longer to go 3D until I save for both the player and AVR.

I'd go for the HDMI switch and the bdp first. They're not expensive so even if you didn't use it after getting a new avr you wouldn't be out much money. In the mean time you could enjoy your setup to it's fullest potential.

[Show spoiler]Did you detect the sarcasm in that post?

I've had 5 or 6 3D demos in dedicated rooms at a local shop, after each one I had no urge to reach for my wallet. Quite the opposite actually.

I'd go for 4k before 3D unless they drastically improve the experience.

Have you watched my 3D content on your Sharp?

I have watch a couple of shows including the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and only the Olympic show so far has impress me. Other than that the only reason I bought the 3D Sharp was for the reviewed better PQ on that set vs the standard 2D set. I'm with you and would prefer 4K over 3D. I was hoping my other TV had lasted a few more years so I could wait but that's not how it happened.

I am not yet a fan of 3D either. If I was I would have already made the move toward a new player. But I do like to experience first hand the new Tech so I may better understand how all of the new stuff works. I also do that with computer stuff at work but at least there I do not have to buy any of it.

Morning Al,

Got just a few questions:
What did you think of the AQ on Real Steel?
Watch any grain heavy BDs with the Drablet? Getting ready to watch Sideways, lots of grain. One of my favorite after 10:00 movies.
Have any favorite late night movies?

Hi Travis....not sure I want to talk to you.

I thought the AQ was excellent in some places but was annoyed at the scenes where the announcer and the crowd noise at that stadium matches was recorded to loud IMO and found myself turning down the volume in those scenes. I also think the robots footsteps could have had more omph to them. I only watched that movie yesterday so no grainy movie yet. No I do not have any late night movie choices cause I can not stay up late like you since I am at work by 7 AM.

Watch a grainy movie. Wonder how it will deal with it. Will the grain be too pronounced or offensive. Honestly, I'm not a fan of grain noise. I like 70's movies a lot, seems the grain was finer in the film stock used at the time. The sky in Sideways is snowy, kinda bothers me.

I do not think I have any. Go look at my collection...won't take long...and tell me which one would have the most grain.

Been a while since I saw them...guessing Contact, No Country for Old Men, and mybe Law Abiding Citizen?

Find grain is most offensive in bright scenes, for me anyway.

Well I might take NCfOM for a spin but not this afternoon. I really enjoy watching road races so that is what is planned for today.

I'll watch a few in your collection; then tell you what else you need to watch!

We have 46 in common, but Predator and Stargate are different versions.

So you are saying if the Darblet makes the movies you pick look better you will then order one for yourself?
