Oh don't worry. Pop (or soda as people from the USA call it) is hands down the hardest thing to kick out of a diet. Its too good to pass up!
Walk down the right back alley in Sin City, and you can find anything.

People from the US call it many things. Pop, Soda, Coke. Only one of them is correct though, and that is Coke.

Since when did Coke become a generic, catch-all term for a soft drink? It's not a generic enough term, certainly not in the same league as using Kleenex in place of a facial tissue.

It appears to be a Southern thing; that explains so much. And it goes without saying: Pepsi > Coke. (That should ruffle some feathers right there. )

I call it pop

Never call it Soda or "Coke" (unless I'm drinking coke)

But I don't drink much pop anymore since I started my diet in January. And it was the hardest thing to give up since I would drink it pretty much every day, non stop. Sometimes I have diet pop and every few weeks or so I might have a can of regular pop on a "free" day.

I don't even get how calling all drinks "Coke". Makes no sense. While I think Soda is dumb, it at least makes sense lol

I'm from the west but I thought Ohio gets grouped with the south for some things and the north for other things. Also wasn't southern Ohio some what sympathetic with the confederacy? (it's been a long time since I've had US history class)

Always as in?

I'm at about a can (usually Pepsi) every two days provided their actually in the house already. I'm still lazy enough that I don't have the desire to rush out and get more. Sometimes it's literally drunk because it's there for me to take.

Remember kids, being lazy can be good for you too.

Its weird when I hear "Soda", because its a term not used in Canada. Neither is "Candy Bar", we usually say Chocolate Bar here. It's interesting to hear the differences between two countries that are already fairly similar.

Love the map - grew up in Maryland and do call everything soda. Sometimes I slip into saying pop as my mother's half of the family is from Pittsburgh and do have quite a bit of family there - everytime I visist I'm saying pop before I leave (along with "yins" )

The only time I drink soda is when alcohol is involved
When i got home that evening, I went straight to the garage and practiced my draw and SHOUT techniques as well as my roll, somersault and aim drills and made myself a promise that I would never ever be caught off-guard again.-dfinch

I have GERD, so I try to avoid pop (I'm from Pittsburgh, so yes I call it pop!) whenever possible. I drink mostly tea and water.

Personally, I say "Coke" to mean Coca-Cola or Pepsi. If I want some other variety, I use it's name (Mountain Dew, Mr Pibb, Dr Pepper). I don't call any of them soda (which is acceptable) or pop (really? we're not talking about Rice Krispies).
