are ps3's region locked? or can they play any region BD? Also, probably a bad question, but when I get a surround sound system, does it come w/ a bd player? :$

PS3's are region locked. Depends on what kind of surround system. In a HtiB (Home Theater in a box, the offerings from Samsung, Sony etc) a blu-ray player is usually provided (as it doubles as both player and receiver).

Anything other than HtiB's will only give you the speakers, you'll have to buy the player, receiver and cabling yourself (though they will be of vastly higher quality in general).
The ability to speak does not make one intelligent, now get out of here. - Qui-Gon Jinn

TV: Sony KDL40Z5500 (200 HZ, WCG CCFL, 10 bit colour)
Speakers: Jamo S608 (fronts), Jamo S60 CEN (Center), Jamo S60 SUR (Surrounds), Klipsch RW-12D (Subwoofer), Marantz SR6004 (Receiver)
Blu-ray player: Pioneer BDP-LX55
Game console: PS3 60GB (launch model with SACD).

So I'm looking at 3 players right now, but I find bad reviews on all 3 !

SAMSUNG BD-E5700
SNOY BDPS390
PANASONIC DMPBD87

What should be my pick ?

Thanks

Finally decided to get a region A player and looking for good suggestions.. I know nothing of BD players since I've just used my PS3 for 4 years. It does not have to be region free since I'll just use both the PS3 and the player. I guess my only criteria is that it has to support all audio types and I would like it to look good and be sturdy/of good build if possible! I have found extremely cheap players like the LG BD610 for 35 dollars which I guess would be fine - but I am willing to spend more if it is worth it! I am open to suggestions and hope you have some input

Amazon

Hi,
I'm new in this forum. First of all I want to ask sorry if I will commit some mistakes.

I would ask you an opinion: I'm looking to buy a 3d bluray player for my Samsung UE46D7000 but I have a budget of 150€ ( 185$ ). What bluray player do you suggest me for best as possible audio/video quality?
I have given a look into Amazon.it (i'm italian) and I have found a BD-E5500 della samsung or Sony BDP-S590 or Panasonic DMP-BDT220. Someone suggest me a philips bdp 5200. What do you think about those?
Thanks

I have a few questions.

1. Does the OPPO BDP-93 run as hot as the PS3?
2. Does the OPPO BDP-93 can be bought already modified to play all regions?
3. What are alternative 3D BD Players to consider if the Oppo can't be
optained?
4. Do all 3D BD / BD players run hot while playing back a movie.

I'd appreciate any assistance on this.

Okay I am just posting a quick question hoping for suggestions.

I am looking for the cheapest possible Blu-Ray Player that is region free and has a built-in PAL-NTSC converter, without having to buy an external one. As long as it plays the movie and features of Region A/B/C Blu-Rays and Region 1/2/3/4/5/0 DVDs,and lasts, and all that is needed is the player and a TV to hook it up to,I'll be happy. Please remember I am looking for the Cheapest Possible player that fits these requirements.

I'm looking for something under $100. The ONLY things I'm looking for are reasonable load times and DTS-HD Master Audio.

I would go for the S590 but it sacrifices loading speed for its features. This review should be of some help to you, and it may help you find a good deal on the blu-ray player: http://reviews.cnet.com/blu-ray-play...-35118513.html

Since you're from Denmark I think it's way easier and cheaper to buy a region free player. Region A players aren't being sold in Europe so it would mean buying an import which would make things quite expensive.

I hope that this question hasn't already been asked, but I couldn't find it using search.

I'm looking for a recorder which will record to hard drive, and allow you to edit the recording and transfer it to Blu-ray disc.

Most of the 'recorders' which I have found seem to be HDD recorders which only function as Blu-ray players, not as recorders (unless I am misinterpreting the specs I see).

How should I go about searching for what I want?

What's up community BR.com

I'm looking for a solid Blu-ray player with 4k upscaling and no 3D option.

Can someone please give me some recommendations. Brand really doesn't matter to me that much but I prefer either Samsung or Sony to match the rest of my equipment.
I own 500+ DVDs that I refuse to re-buy on Blu-ray (rare exceptions occur; i.e. the Matrix, Godfather, Indiana Jones)

Why in hell would you want 4k upscaling, but no 3D? Outside of a $25k projector there's no 4k sets. As for 3D, just don't use it.

Easy rod.

I was just asking if there was 4k up-scaling available without the 3D option.

Sorry, the why in hell was not meant as an insult, I was just stunned by it. I don't think it is possible, as pretty much everything with 4k upscaling does 3D. You can always look for an avr that does 4k and use the player of your choice. But back to your question, is there a particular reason for 4k, no3D?

I just hate 3D a lot and don't want to see it in my entertainment center.

Anyways when 4k sets become available they will obviously come with scalers built in which are probably be as a minimum as good as what's out there, if not better. Just stick with a non 3D player, though the better players all have 3D.
