Throughout Shabazz Muhammad's recruitment, UCLA was constantly mentioned as the leader for his services. Other schools seemed to jump to the forefront, but the Bruins never really strayed from pole position.

On Wednesday, Muhammad made it official: he's headed to Westwood.

Muhammad, a 6-foot-6 wing from Bishop Gorman (Nev.), chose the Bruins over finalists Kentucky and Duke. The Blue Devils gained steam in the past couple of weeks, while some in recent weeks saw the Wildcats as the leader. Kansas, Arizona, UNLV, USC, Texas A&M and Memphis were also involved with Muhammad at one time or another.

He is the No. 2-ranked player in the class of 2012, sitting just behind Nerlens Noel. Muhammad held the top spot for most of the past year, only moving back a notch when Noel reclassified to 2013. Muhammad is one of the hardest-working players in the country, standing out to onlookers in all-star practices in the last month.

Muhammad is a left-handed scoring machine, overpowering most defenders with his strength when he drives to the rim. He finishes extremely well, and is nearly unstoppable with his mid-range game. Moreover, he has improved his outside shooting, making him even more difficult to guard on the wing. Muhammad is constantly looking to attack the basket, and comes up big in important moments. He can also utilize back-to-the-basket moves against smaller or weaker defenders.

At UCLA, Muhammad joins top-100 prospects Kyle Anderson (No. 3) and Jordan Adams (No. 71) in Ben Howland's 2012 recruiting class. The combination of Muhammad and Anderson could be one of the most dangerous in the country next season.
Huge grab by UCLA.

I wouldn't be too worried you've still got 2 kids in the top10 thats 40% of a team right there, and another in the top20. So 60% of a starting rotation is filled with top20 kids
Because it's easier to have courage from a safe distance away.

I'm actually starting to think we're at a point where late undecided top ranked players are deciding against going to Kentucky because of TOO much talent/competition. Some of these top-tier recruits are probably planning on staying the minimum of one year and would rather go to a lesser program so they can score 20+ per game as opposed to maybe 10 PPG on a loaded Kentucky team.

It also seems weird a #1 overall recruit would pick UCLA at a time when that program is getting a ton of negative press.

There's more to come. A few more "undecided" kids hanging around, maybe a transfer. Some of the top recruits aren't really one and done. A few of them will realize they need at least two years like D. Lamb and Jones did.

Muhammed is a great talent and I'm pretty upset he decided to go to UCLA. I hope he made the right choice for his sake. He could have been another God at UK. Definitely won't get that kind of love at UCLA.

I wish there wasn't a 'one and done' rule, they should have to stay in school at least two years. UCLA is putting together a pretty good class, I imagine their whole sales pitch is; be the guys that bring UCLA back to elite status.

SMU, which has been trying hard to attract a big name coach as it starts Big East play in 2013, is interviewing former Davidson/Carolina Cougars/Nuggets/UCLA/Nets/Kansas/Spurs/Lakers/Pacers/76ers/Pistons/Knicks/Bobcats coach Larry Brown. The 71-year old Brown won an NCAA title with Kansas in 1988 and an NBA title in 2004 with the Pistons.

He had 0.6 grams of marijuana on him!?!?!?!?
Street value: $10 tops. (Usually a gram bag will set you back $20.)

And the "impaired driving" wasn't from alcohol, which actually impairs your driving. It was from smoking weed, which has little to no effect.

Heh, Chad, all I'm going to say is you don't have to tell ME this.

Impairment tests are stupid, though. I've failed one before and had to blow into the breathalyzer to clear my name.

When I took my test, he told me to take 9 steps heel-to-toe, turn around 180 degrees to my left, and to take 9 steps heel-to-toe back to where I started.

Yeah well I'm not right-handed/right-legged/right-eye-dominant like the rest of the world. I stepped with my left foot first. So when I got to step #9, my left foot was forward. So it was kinda impossible for me to turn to my left. I tried anyway and lost my balance.

Blew a 0.011 into the breathalyzer so he had to let me go; I was no where near the limit.

Case in point, the MSU ball player could've failed the impairment test for a number of reasons unrelated to his so-called "impairment" (e.g., probably a lot of college basketball players aren't smart enough to count backwards from 91 to 78...)

MSU starting the season strong again!
So this means that last season and this upcoming season (only 4 months to go! ) we've started the season playing 4 of the last 5 champions, and I know next next year (2013-14) we play UK for the champions classic maybe we can win more of these games than last year

There's an odd situation going on at Eastern Michigan. Their head coach, Rob Murphy, accepted a job earlier this week with the Orlando Magic in their scouting department. However, Murphy's contract required him to pay a $210,000 buyout if he left and now Murphy has released a statement that he is staying at Eastern Michigan.
