Lost Girl Season 2 Blu-ray Review

Quote:
This past April, Lost Girl - Season 1 came out in Canada on DVD, distributed only north of the border by eOne Entertainment. What about a State-side release, though? This past Monday the folks at MTV Geek reported that this title, which airs on Syfy in the U.S., will be coming from FUNimation on October 23rd in both DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc formats! What's more, the info there says that Lost Girl - Season 2 will arrive very soon afterward, on November 13th. Package art, pricing, and other details haven't been made available yet, but stay tuned! Our thanks to reader Kevin Bachelder for the heads-up!

I'm new to SyFy shows as they aren't normally something I'd like but my friend told me she started watching this show and liked it. A couple weeks ago they had on Season 2 and I was watching it just because I didn't feel like changing the channel. Even though I basically had no idea what was going on, I liked it.

After I watched an episode or two I looked for the BD or DVD and saw it never came out so I'm happy both seasons will be out and I can catch up.

Some FUNimation releases are locked and some aren't (according to this site) so it's 50/50.

Funimation is a quality Blu-ray producer mostly known for their anime releases. I'm amazed this show is getting released on Blu-ray, though it does look very good in weekly HD broadcasts. I wonder if these will be from the uncensored Canadian broadcasts, or the SyFy cut versions? The lead character is a female succubus who happens to be bisexual.

I know all of that. But there were things happening in the episode that I didn't understand because I didn't know why they were doing it or for what.

The show is heavily serialized around the monster of the week framework. You can get lost in the show if several key episodes are missed.

I really wanted to watch this but my DVR dumped most of the first season after I had only watched the first 2 episodes. Will definitely will be picking these up! The premise seems right up my alley.

From what I understand these will be the Canadian cuts of the episodes...

I really hope it's uncensored, I'd rather see the original cuts instead of edited episodes from 'syfy' because human skin is so risque.

Awesome. I didn't know about this show until I found out about Continuum on Showcase, so I've seen one less episode than hardtosay. I wouldn't mind getting these at some point and getting into the show.

Now hopefully somebody will release Continuum here as well, whether it's on Blu-ray or just DVD. I have to watch that online illegally since nobody picked that up here yet.

Is Season 1 shorter than 2? If not, then the much higher MSRP for Season 2 is strange.

Also, hopefully the listings end up being wrong and there are subtitles. It only happens occasionally for me, but the chance to rewind and go back if I miss a line is nice.

I will say something positive though and say the covers are nice.
