Sorry for not being clearer, I meant when for when you get your new speakers. I've seen some that should be small enough to fit around the bottom spikes of whatever towers you decide to get. Again sorry for any misunderstanding.

Not yet, Penta; I really don't know what I am going to do with that system...for the time being, I have leveled out the stands and balanced these POS R20's as best as I could on the carpet, so they will suffice for music playback for now, but I really don't know which way I want to go with new towers...

We want something that isn't too expensive or exotic, yet at the same time, I'd like to move beyond the typical Polks/Infinitys/Klipschs of the market and try something a bit more known in audiophile circles for music reproduction. I just don't know what brand that is...

All good since you do have music going on. And that gives you more than enough time to audition, which is the key here. Give yourself a definite budget, it will make it easier to pinpoint.

Good luck buddy, keep us posted.

Don't worry about it Hill! We've all been there so we understand the frustration you're experiencing. "Chin up" as they say!

I heard them through a friend of a friend. Not the ideal or perfect setup but the sound was very impressive.

Great deal through Tyler really good guy, just cannot swing it right now maybe in the future, I need to save save save. I do appreciate Rhett thinking of me though, he is a great guy. Hope to get together soon to drool over his Sapphire's again.

Yeah, it's a little bit overwhelming, but when you find the right sound, it's all worth the trouble. Take your time, and remember only you can decide what speakers will suit your needs, and your desired sound quality.

hey i hear you, right now the focus 160s are out of my price range. once I can save enough ill trade in what I have for them, but I have a local guy for that. I liked the 5.4s a lot when I heard them. However the new C2 Sigs... man, those are another step up.

I always tell rhett how bright his speakers are. he loves it. I heard them here locally with an audio research setup, to me they were a little aggressive, ever since I tell Rhettard they are bright... its gets him going. LOL.

Thanks, John and Penta...

Can I ask, though, John -- you mentioned "feeling the frustration I'm experiencing," but did you mean with speaker selection in particular? Is it that common?

I think he did...

I went trough that pain as i mentionned in previous post tried several speakers that i liked, but as someone mentioned when you hear the sound you like you will know what speaker is for you

I must have tried 15 different speakers in 8 different stores be fore I bought my speakers..

Hello Hill,

I actually meant both, but yes, moreso the frustration of the process that Olivier eluded to. It can be a daunting exercise!

If I might make a comment, I think you may be overwhelming yourself by considering far too many models. I know the thought process behind it, and it's a noble task you have set out to do, but you'll burn out faster than a candle on a windy day. There are just too many options!

As was mentioned before, set yourself a budget and consider only those speakers from those companies you're interested in....and that fall into your budget range. Nothing below it and nothing above it.. If you can narrow it down to about a half-dozen choices (at most) the entire process shouldn't take an inordinate amount of time, and it won't appear overwhelming.

I think he mentioned not before, but it would be a great way of getting really good speakers and stay in his price range.
