One of the best sacds I own. I would also recommend Allman brothers - live at the fillmore east.

Good surround mix, definitely not the preferred stereo mastering. Some like the rare DVD-A version better.

Arrived today and I'm happy with my choice. 3 uncompressed mixes (5.1,4.0 and 2.0) and the concert backdrops in 5.1 and 2.0 made it worth the few extra bucks. I can't imagine it sounding better. I'll get the chance to really give it my attention (and give my system more of a workout) in the future, wife and grandkids are here now. Welcome to the Machine has some pretty serious LFE, unlike anything I'm used to in music. Turned my recliner into a massage chair even at lower volume (6 or 8 db lower than if I was home alone). My new favorite MC music disk.

Got it today and listened to it in all 3 versions. First I listened in SACD stereo, really liked this as the imaging was nice and clear, and the LFE wasn't overpowering. Second I listened regular CD and didn't really like this mix as much, it was clean but the cymbals sounded a little too bright and thin. Lastly I listened in full surround SACD, the best of the three followed by the stereo SACD. I hadn't heard the song Your Latest Trick before, but I like this one a lot. The saxophone adds a nice touch to the song.

Happy you like it, and it's a very easy album to play often compared to other great SACDs that you might listen to less often as you need to dedicate your time (WYWH being one of those, I don't listen to that one in the background)

Agreed

DSotM, WYWH and BiAs: best enjoyed front to back in glorious surround!

So I just listened to the Let It Bleed, The Rolling Stones album for the first time and it's awesome.

What is the definitive version of this album? SACD?

Edit: is the 2002 release worth less than $30? is that a pretty reasonable price? I am talking about the hybrid one.

The reviews are good but it doesn't seem to be easy to get, anyways didn't see it on Amz. At $30 it seems good. From what I read not all Stones SACDs are great AQ wise but Let it Bleed seems good.

Oh and yes, it's a great album

Yes, the Let It Bleed SACD is widely considered the ultimate version of the album on any format. Gimme Shelter sounds incredible on it.

According to the seller this is what he is sending me.

*picture below*

I understand some were in the "digipack" packaging and others were in a regular CD case.

That is the real SACD. It comes in the digipack and only first-pressing SACDs had the certificate of authenticity.

Is there a difference in sound between this one (ABKCO) and the one released by Universal (Japan)?

Did I get ripped off? $33.

I've seen a few vague comments on the SHM-SACD that it sounds inferior to the original SACD, but I have no personal experience with it. I'm not sure if it uses the same DSD transfer of the original SACD or not. As it was considered one of the best of the original Stones' SACDs, prices for it have always been high since they went out of print.

Dark Side of the Moon is like a whole different experience on SACD. Love these things.

Just grabbed this:

So far I've listened to Princes of the Universe and Who Wants to Live Forever (on a bit of a Highlander kick).

Sounds pretty good. Not amazing, but decent.

Anyone own the RS-500 sampler disk? I have one on the way and was just curious as to how good it was. Song selection is great, I hope the sound quality is.

I picked up a copy, and the sound quality is decent. I don't see how it is (or could be) any different then the discs the tracks were sourced from. Seemed like a cheap way to get some tracks without having to buy all those albums.

Let me know what you think!
