Default The taco/mexican food thread

This thread is for discussing one of my favorite foods in the world: Tacos!

Please feel free to discuss other Mexican delicacies that you enjoy as well. And, PLEASE post photos!!!!!!

Here are are few to start us off!

The Carne Asada Gordita for a local authentic taco restaurant. A homemade thick corn tortilla shell stuffed with your choice of fillings! They also give you a side of grilled onions and peppers and fresh limes and radishes too. I only use the red hot sauce--the green is way too hot!

Puerco En Salsa Verde from Maggie's Kitchen

Steak Fajita Tacos from a little taco Food Truck @ The Holland Farmer's Market

And the best tacos I've ever had....hands down! From the Taco Bus in St. Petersburg FL
BEHOLD! The Carne De Res Desebrada!!!!!

Please share!

Inspired by my own thread, I talked the wife into some Mexican for dinner at one of our favorites-El Burrito

To start, they have the BEST salsa.

And for dinner I chose the Shredded Beef Tips w/sauteed onions Chimichangas

I go to a little mexican restaurant near my office for lunch just about every week, Fiesta Mexico, and I always order the same lunch special - a beef burrito, beef taco, refried beans, chips and salsa, and with about a third of a bottle of El Yucateco green habanero sauce dumped in the salsa and all over the food (I like my mexican "Paint Peeling" hot!) - all for just $4.99!

It's a cheap but very "fulfilling" lunch...

We made Mexican Style Shredded Chicken Fried Tacos at home earlier this week. I think I ate 6 or 8 of these bad boys!

For $4.99, I'd probably be there every day.

A Nacho Libre reference - nicely done. Haven't seen it, but I just might for Ana de la Reguera.

I had this recipie posted over in the crock-pot thread. Thought I would put it in here as well considering the "Mexican" theme. Easy to make and its great on taco's, in wraps, on buns, etc. We use this just about everytime we make tacos at home.

[Show spoiler]16oz of salsa (I use the fresh kind found in my grocery deli, made it with the jar kind once and it was no where near as good)

1 packet of taco seasoning

3-4 chicken breasts (one decent size package at the store)

Mix the salsa and taco seasoning in a crockpot than place chicken in, spoon salsa over top. Cook on low for about 4 hours, shred chicken with forks, and cook for another 1-2 hours (can do this quicker if you cook on high temp).

Thats it. Eat the shredded chicken / salsa mixture in taco shells, in wraps, on sub rolls (my favorite), etc. I usually put lettuce, cheese and mayo on my sandwiches - when on taco shells or in wraps i eat them with shredded cheese, lettuce and sour cream. It gets better the second, third and fourth days after cooking.

How was the salsa? Everything else looked really mouth-watering except for the salsa in this pic (looks like it came from a jar, rather than made-from-scratch )

The salsa was incredible! I'm almost 100% positive it was homemade-I thought the same thing when we got the chips and cheese, but it was delicious! I was chopped really fine, but really didn't have a watery consistency you'd think it would have chopped that fine.

Found a new taco place!!!!!! Taco Bob's!!!!

I wouldn't necessarily call this fast food, but it definitely blow Taco Bell out of the water!

Two Funny Tacos (kinda like the Double Decker from TB, but wayyyyyyy better!) and Bob's Burrito!
