Casablanca 70th Anniversary Blu-ray Review

Anyone interetsed in the box and goodies, let me know, cuz once it arrives, I wont be keeping them, just the discs.

I haven't got Casablanca on Blu-ray so this was a no brainier for me, can't let the set go for only $25.

Also got the limited edition Blu-ray set of West Side Story which also was on sale.

Exactly. Amazon just copy other retailers. Then they'll drive them into bankruptcy and once Amazon loses their competitors, they can jack up their prices and make a lot of money since they'll be the only retailer left with little to no competition. It's simple economics, really. Just wait and you'll see.

No-- I thank AMAZON for my deal. Best Buy sent me a notice at 7:15 AM of the set's availbility. I saw it and ordered three hours later. It was sold out. Then I saw Amazon's deal and bought instantly--- and another for a friend. Amazon has it--- Best Buy offers it and does NOT have it. Amazon can copy any Best Buy deals it wants as far as I'm concerned.

Did you not check another store? Did you not ask an employee to help you out since they may have some in the back? There are ways to get this at Best Buy. Don't blame Best Buy because you didn't want to do any work. Best Buy was the first to put this on sale, so yes, thank Best Buy, not Amazon.

According to Best Buy's online inventory search -- no stores anywhere near me have it in stock. I may have to use Amazon too. I don't want to...I'd rather support brick n' mortar -- especially if it's the same price. Plus...I've got $15 in Best Buy bucks.

But...

I don't see the logic in putting on a great sale, but not having the stock.

So then support it. Frankly, I don't understand this. Ask an employee if they have it in stock. Maybe they have some in the back that they just never put out. If not, ask them to check which stores near the area have it in stock. They can check that in the computer.

And it's happened many times when BB's site said they didn't have it in stock when they really did. And vice-versa. So just go to your nearest BB store and check. It doesn't hurt.

Why? It's not like Best Buy is some local independent Mom and Pop store that you're being commendably loyal too. Plus, technically speaking, it would be cheaper at Amazon, since you're (presumably) not paying sales tax.

Best Buy isn't exactly doing all that well financially either. Many actually expect them to go the way of Circuit City eventually and guess what one of the reasons for that is? Because Amazon is taking away business from them. Amazon takes 99% of their great deals from BB, WM and Target. I have to wonder whether we'll see as many great deals from Amz if BB closes.

Why does everyone assume that Amazon is tax-free. It varies from state to state. Here in NY, Amazon charges tax on the purchase AND the shipping charges. And even if Amazon doesn't charge tax, you should be reporting them on your return. So, technically, it's not tax-free even though Amazon doesn't charge you.

In its own way, BB is being driven out of business like mom and pop music/video stores were driven out by BB. Different methodology and a number of different factors but the same net effect.

Ok, ordered! I tried to resist, but since I have no self control whatsoever, I made the purchase. And I knew I was going to give in because this is not your everyday deal. This is obviously a once in a lifetime deal because this is a limited set and we're lucky it even got this cheap. So, before any retailer decides to lower this again in the future, this set will be OOP. I have no idea where I'm going to store this set since it looks huge, but I'll find a place.

This senior citizen had to work today and couldn't go running off to my neighborhood Best Buy from which I've ordered online before and paid and then my item wasn't there when I went. I am a good customer there. So I checked my local stores online and NONE had the set. Well-- I am a good customer Amazon as well, so when I saw the set there-- a set I have waited MONTHS to purchase with my pitttance, I ordered it. Satisfied?? Just to let you know-- I don't have to explain myself to YOU at any rate, particularly with your silly-yuppie attitude!

Now get over it, kiddie!
