If Wired says 3D is here, and an AP article reposted on Slate says it isn't, it's here. (Not that I'm curious, but where? All I see is on my Yahoo homepage is Florida acting suspicious about voter registration--again--Romney pretending he's not terrified of the debates, and everyone inappropriately giggling at Netanyahu's Wile E. Coyote Acme bomb. )

Love 3D, think Tangled, Beauty and the Best and Bolt looks good in 3D, is there away to know if a movie has been converted to 3D or has been filmed in 3D ?

Generally, I use my eyes to tell if it's native or converted. Converted never looks right to me.

these are animated, so they are more tricky. A film like SW needs to be converted, but if a film was animated in CGI in 2D then it might not need to be converted even if it was originally shown in 2D. If they still have the computer program they can just re-run it and re-shoot it in 3D. The audio does not change and the characters and backgrounds will just re play exactly (unless they are modified) as they did before

In the beginning I was a 3D hater calling it a fad and a gimmick. I tested it out at my local Sears and still I didnt buy into it. That is until I got my Sony 3D/LED tv. The first 3D movie I watched on it was Hugo and that was it I was converted. I dont watch a 3D movie everyday but I know its there when my wife and I feel the need to watch a good 3D movie. But 3D is good and I now love it and support the format.

If you like 3D, then get it. If you don't care about it then ignore it. No one is forcing you to get 3D. Personally I really like well done 3D on my projector setup.
I was a hater initially until I saw good 3D. I wouldn't want to watch all my content in 3D, but it does add to films where it is done well. We are still years away from a holodeck though
4k... really? Can't we just be happy with BD for a while.

Here, we'll make it easier, just check one of the boxes:
__ "I hate glasses, they give me a headache!--Everyone else in the entire world thinks so too!" __ "Those cheap studios and their cheap conversions! I watched Clash of the Titans once, and swore it off forever!" __ "Those cheap studios and their cheap conversions, forcing us into theaters and making us pay for glasses that give everyone in the world a headache! I'm camped out on Samsung's doorstep waiting for glasses-free TV, which should be invented, affordable and on store shelves any minute now...They promised!" __ "It's all cheap crappy kiddy movie conversions like Clash of the Titans! I'm not buying one until we get a Hitchcock or a Scorsese movie in 3-D!" __ "Yeah, now that they invented one, they're all going to make everyone in the world switch to watching every single movie/TV program in 3-D, like they did with HDTV! Heard some guys got rounded up in internment camps for not switching, like in Red Dawn!" __ "HD-DVD failed, and this's gonna fail too, 'cause....it's like when HD-DVD came out and they tried to make us buy that too, and, like, we didn't!" __ "Just watch, we'll get something else in five minutes, and I'll have to spend money on that too, just to stay out of the internment camps! Yeah, we'll all forget about it by the time 4K comes along, and everybody buys it...as soon as we explain to them what the heck it is, but, like they'll know it's better than Clash of the Titans." (There--That'll save a few posts. )

Today from Nasdaq -
http://community.nasdaq.com/News/201...storyid=192356 I hate stories like this as I love 3D. Claims it has failed again, yet does not mention that 4 out the top 5 grossing movies are 3D. |

2. Star Wars 3. The Sound of Music 4. E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial 5. Titanic 1 out of 5, and it was post-converted fifteen years later. The other list; 1. Avatar 2. Titanic 3. The Avengers 4. The Dark Knight 5. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Does not account for inflation, or the increased ticket price of 3D. Plus, two of these movies were post-converted over a decade later, after they'd made the bulk of their profit. Love 3D as much as you want, I do too. But we can't deny its fading popularity. Auto-stereoscopic/holography will save it, but don't hold your breath for them. You'll have to wait for the 3D revolution, ver 4.0!
