If your 5's are new they will need some break-in. If you bought used then room correction will be fine. But if you add the C2 in mix you will have to run room correction again in a couple of weeks because the sound of C2 will change with some hours on it.

Read the first review by Sean L in Vanns for the C2. I dont thing he gave the C2 a break in or he hooked it up wrong

I believe in a break-in period also especially since these C2's aren't factory fresh units, but have been sitting around a warehouse for some time in a variety of temperatures conditions. Let them loosen up and enjoy.

Amen. My 28s sounded like ass when I first played them. The rubber surrounds need time to loosen up. 100 hours might be a bit liberal. Within a few hours I found the sound had improved considerably, and within 2-3 days (20-30 hours of use) had settled completely. Enjoy the C2...

On my end, I think I'm actively looking to sell my 28s. I waffled back and forth a few times, but an opportunity has come along to buy a pair of speakers that is too good to pass up. I've exchanged emails with Reilly and Magicmonger about it, but Magicmonger is a solid 9-hour drive from my apt in Philly, and Reilly may need a little more time before he can pull the trigger on these. I've wound up posting these on Audiogon and Craigslist, but would prefer to sell to someone on here. $2000 for my Rosewood pair in perfect condition, short of a a few imperfections in the veneer on the top of each cabinet as a result of shipping and constant wiping to keep them clean. I really, really don't want to ship these, so if anyone wants a pair now that they're no longer available new, let me know!

Cheers, guys. Curious to see if, like someone else has mentioned, Mirage is actually coming out with new products in the future.

I haven't heard them, but in looking at them, they look terrific, and a great value to boot. I have to admit I've never really been a fan of horn speakers.

As for what I'm getting...I need to make sure I can sell these things first.

I purchased the OMD5s used BUT they are sounding better as I play them more. I'm thinking either they have been stored for a long period of time OR haven't finished their break-in period from the previous owner. Cause this morning they were sounding even better...

Hey, don't laugh about the Hsu speakers. I used to own them and they are very good speakers at any price, but crazy good for what Hsu charges for them.

They do not sound like horn speakers, either. Very smooth quality, yet they can play really loud, too. Of course I like my OMD's better but for the money and even quite a bit more, they are well worth listening to. If I were going to downsize, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

Don't get me wrong, I kind of went a round-about way of asking Velo if he had ever heard them. I thought you had owned them before because of your posts at the Hsu site.
I have talked to Dr.Hsu and Ryan about them over the phone for an application in my grandson's bedroom and almost have pulled the trigger on them a couple of times.

The C2 is absolutely beautiful. It has about 17 hours of breakin done on it so far and it's an incredible speaker. Loving it...

That rosewood has just a beautiful look to it. The 5s make me miss my 5s just cause I liked their look and good speakers.

I'm going w 5s all the way around cause of their looks and their specs will be fine for my back end. Course I'm saying this while they are on table tops near me and not mounted on the wall a few more feet away. They are a great sounding speaker and will work perfectly for my surrounds.

Just not interested in getting some OMD-Rs...

I used the 5's in both applications (sides/rears) and they will work great there.
There OMDR's are on a whole different level though and you should a least consider them down the road.
