Would you guys say there is a substantial difference between the two? The polk audio store has the RTI10's for $495 for a pair and $675 for the RTI12's. Between the two do you think its worth the extra cost?

I have the 12s and I think they are great. I don't think you would have a problem with them although I have not seen or heard the 10s. Can you audition them?

I also have the rti 12's they are great speakers but they require alot of power to really sound their best.I've never heard the 10's but i bet they would also sound good and wouldnt need as much power. But just my 2 cents.

If for hometheater use the RTi 10 would be plenty of speaker, if for 2 channel then the RTi 12 would be the choice to go with. Nothing but my personal opinion here. Never heard the 10's , I used to have the 12s.

They are rated up to 500 watts but they must be very efficient bc I'm using a very old cheap receiver to power them probably less than 80 watts per channel and they sound great.

Would either be a decent upgrade over my monitor 70s? it wouldnt cost much since i could probably sell my 70s for $200 (pair)
So $300 to upgrade to the 10's and $475 to upgrade to the 12s

lindsay, purple, i've owned the 10's before. i loved them, they were great, but, i always wished i had gone ahead with the 12's, always!
that's why when i went with the axioms, i went for the flagship of the line at the time. remember, you can always dial them down, you can't really dial them up! if you have the opportunity to get the 12's and you can swing it $, get the 12's and don't look back; trust me, you won't have too! as mentioned, you are gonna need to supply them with some power to really make them sing. think about a 2 channel amp, 200wpc or better if your receiver has pre-outs and if you can swing it of course.

Just a quick update,i turned off my subs and set the receiver to full band.Did a little 2 channel music listening and was able to crank it up louder than i had before. The 12's sounded good and did have some nice bass response.I guess i was treating them unfairly since i usually leave my subs on.So in short,i would recommend the 12's if you can get them

No i only tried music, but they definitely had some better bass than i realized. And with the amp you can really crank them too, without clipping. With movies,i just don't think i could go without subs for the lfe, there job is just too important in my opinion.

Purp have you looked into getting a csi series for your center channel? I see that you have a cs2! The upgrade might be a big difference! But I'm sure your setup right now rocks too!
