the outlaw is prettier than the emotiva, however, the emotiva also includes 7.1 input, XLR sub out for long cable runs so it wins out for being more versatile.
the most interesting thing to me is that neither of them offer network support and that's something that the most entry level of receivers offer today. i think in that respect, they have both let us down there. with the proliferation of internet radio, a pc, a NAS, ease of device updates via the network they are both getting an F for not supporting those things. that is one thing i won't give up is my music streaming via a network and updating my processor from the internet via networking. the do both look nice though, so, that's something. but, i've already got emo amps and DAC's so again, emo wins.

figured id ask what one more time since I have some money burning a hole in my pocket and the sale going on. my set is as follows Klipsch Icon KF-28 towers , Klipsch Icon KC-25 center, Klipsch Icon KS-14.
is it worth adding any emotiva amp to go along with my onkyo 709 or spend the $ on something different

VTF-3 MK4 sub. I have had subs that were part of the "HT package" like Polk and Sony but none of them could hold a candle to my HSU, it has more than anything changed the quality of my all around sound.

i'm sure it does, (since i have a couple of them) but, we were talking about the two Pre-Amps that Zippo posted, not about blu-ray players.

i know your talking about pre amps, my point was there are other pieces of equipment that stream internet radio so they would work with the pre pros he was talking about , sorry if i was unclear . they both look very nice . and ive heard the umc200 it sounds fantastic !

also, there aren't too many pre-amps or receivers that don't have ethernet (or wi-fi) built into them. not everyone has an oppo or other means to stream hi-rez audio, not just internet audio, audio up to 192/24 streaming capabilities. and for the DAC that's built into the UMC-1 and this UMC-200 you would think that something like that would be an important sales point and another way to get entry level or other audiophiles wanting it with an easy way to get that lossless audio streamed at the head end. the difference in their other DAC's or anything that they make is there is nothing to control, see, select the music from it's storage area---you could do that from the pre-amp via ethernet and without all the hassels associated with USB from a pc. you could stream 192/24 without the USB problems, the same way you can with an oppo93 or above, no problems (although, the oppo is pretty slow and doesn't have the best interface for streaming) ethernet or wi-fi would also give the opportunity for iOS & Android device control, something that lots of us love too. future thinking is what i'm getting at, options. but, your point is well taken.

the umc200 does stream from blu tooth wich is cool , but i get your point about up to date technology, but im a sucker for sound quality so if there's a few less gadgets but better sound quality ill take the sound quality . but in a perfect world both would be nice.

Streaming? ![]() What is this streaming you speak of?I doubt my receivers or sources have streaming features( maybe on the PS3 ) , but I probably wouldn't use that feature anyway( guess I'm still old school, using CDs & an iPod dock ).
