Parts were... I totally agree with our review that there are some INSANELY good elements, but then some stuff is so un-nessacary it takes away from what should have been a staple of a genera and now I think it'll just be a cult classic.

The extended cut is definitely the better version of the film, which is a rare thing these days.

Have been considering a blind-buy of this film, as I am a huge fan of both Oliver Stone and Benicio del Toro. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will drop to a lower price point sometime in the immediate future (Cyber Monday).

In my opinion, yes, but there are plenty of mixed feelings about the movie. Some probably have to do with the ending. After finally watching my copy of the movie last week, it boggles my mind why so many people complained about it, but to each their own.

Got the chance to finally see this film last night, I thought it was excellent. Benicio del Toro's performance and the film's cinematography were the strongest components i.m.o.

I just finished it and don't get why there was so much negativity for it. It was enjoyable and really not a bad movie. I think people just expect more from Oliver Stone

I actually liked the ending and
[Show spoiler] I thought it was a nice return for Stone to his cinema of chaos that has been missing from his films post-Alexander. He throws everything at the screen and sometimes some of it doesn't work, but for me most of it did.

I finally got a chance to see this the other night. It had me, I was grooving and digging it all the way to the ending. First ending left me rolling my eyes, second left me flipping off the screen. Man I wish it ended better, but will give it another try as I loved everything else, esp. Del Toro.

Red Box rental only had the theatrical cut and no extras. Del Toro performance was excellent. It rivals Bardem's in No Country for Old Men.
The ending was the low point. i prefer the first ending. The second ending could have been a menu accessed alternate ending. I might buy this when it hits the $7.88 bin at Walmart. |

In the same boat, I really enjoyed the film but can't see paying more than $9.99 for it.
