Anyone use the iStreamer dac?

I currently use a Denon iPod dock with my 3312. Would the iStreamer convert music I already have on my iPod to a higher quality or only music being streamed?

Would it be possible to hook up the iStreamer while my iPod is docked? Thanks guys.

that im aware of, the iStreamer won't upconvert music it's simply a better DAC than what is built into the iOS devices and the iStreamer is specifically designed around those devices to give you the best quality of sound from your device via "line level" output.

i don't know if it will work the exact same way with a dock; depends if the dock is doing anything the audio signal. if the dock is "straight through" with no changes then yes, it will work with a dock that's "straight through" with USB output.

get yourself a nice analog rca x rca cable to go to your receiver and your in business.

check your dock to find out if it's simply "straight through" and if it is, i think the iStreamer will be a nice addition to your music listening experience.

i currently use the MusicStreamer II at work and all of my music, be it hi-rez FLAC, or iTunes, WMALL, MP3 the DAC makes them all sound great streamed from my PC.

i hope this helps. check into what the return policy from the purchaser. it might be a worthwhile investment. i'm sure it will perform better than the stock iOS DAC.

We reviewed the Istreamer in Vinylphile a few issues ago (I forget off the top of my head which issue). As Solaradd suggested, it replaces the DAC in your iPod with one that is substantially better. It will not upsample the music on your iPod or change it in any way (and if your music is in MP3 or some other lossy format, don't waste your time & money unless you re-rip your music).

No idea, sorry. My best guess is that the iStreamer replaces your dock: you connect its output into one of your receiver's inputs.
